Switched back to PH Classic (for now), can't stand how close the lines are in GTI

Just checked and I have been using Classic for all this time. GTI and Big Blue are virtually the same layout, are they not?

No, Big Blue looks like a modern version of Classic. GTI looks crap.

Question for the Management

If I put a poll in General Gassing on skin usage - would it get moved to here or health matters in order to limit the traffic?

Haven't seen one before but a while back I tried all the skins and like many I kept reverting back to what I knew and liked

It's clearly a Website Feedback subject, and nothing to do with limiting traffic.

Every time I've seen GTi having not logged on I shudder. And now it's to become the norm. Oh dear.

I appreciate that - however as you well know not many people visit website feedback unless there is a problem

So if you want to see how many people use which skin the based place for the thread to be is the largest discussion area..... Which I believe traffic wise is GG

I got the option to select PH Classic, so I returned to that right away.



An attempt at some constructive evaluation:

The font in the GTI skin just looks plain odd to my eyes.

The spacing is odd, and the sizes are also inconsistent.

Also - in "My Stuff" the forum names are not underlined (indicating a link), but the topics are - more inconsistency.

As for the liberal use of the "Verdana" font - do you guys realise that there are better (and free) fonts out there?

Verdana is so 1990's.

If you used a more modern font, you wouldn't need to fiddle with the spacing.

And before I'm told - yes, I know the 'Classic' skin uses the Verdana font, but it doesn't have that weird spacing.

And you're not offering a broad enough selection of fonts.

You should at least have Helvetica in there.

I selected site at random (one that just happened to be open in my browser) and:

font-family: apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif, "Apple Color Emoji", "Segoe UI Emoji", "Segoe UI Symbol";

You do realise there are other operating systems out there?

Not all operating systems have common fonts - this is why you need to declare additional fonts - otherwise any attempt at making your site render correctly fails...

Agreed. On a mobile device it's so much better. On desktop it looks like a forum. I don't have any formatting or display issues. That's the problem - old people don't like change. PH is full of 'em

Currently browsing using a 10 inch tablet.

Font is so thin and pale coloured it's barely legible.

Please, please, please do something about it.

I know I could revert to classic, but as you're going to dump it anyway there's no point doing that.

I was talking about desktop GTI; I agree there is no report or delete of threads on your mobile.

I love the way they just changed it and didn't even ask opinions on the type of skin people prefer.

If they had done a poll and one was chosen as the favourite, fair enough. To simply make a change and say it will be stuck that way in April is an absolute joke.

The only thing that will make them respond is a reduction in traffic to the site. Whether or not this happens as a result of this is yet to be seen.

Incidentally, the changes they have made have probably made the site busier for a bit. Win!
