Same here.

Member for years, advert submitted over a week ago. Now get an email asking payment??

Fair enough the advert did end up being submitted the day before the classifieds got messed up but still....

Either way, the cars been sold now! laugh

Can you send me a link to the ad? I'll see if I can get a refund processed - you are absolutely entitled to a free ad with 95 months under your belt!

It's cool, I wasn't silly enough to pay for it.

Can my account be tweaked to allow the free ads in future?

I should think it was a temporary bug related to the problems. If you didn't finish uploading the ad it'll still be there, so try submitting it and it'll work.

Either way, your account will give you free ads.

Hi, I've signed up after a mate told me about the free listings on PistonHeads. Now, the system seems to have changed. The posts above suggest that certain cars still qualify for free standard ads with 3 photos. Can I please ask, if I could advertise my Mercedes C Class with a free standard ad? Could my account be enabled for these, please? Thanks a lot!

Hi,

Thanks for the message and welcome to PistonHeads. Free ads are available to members above a certain duration (3 years at present) rather than by type of car. However an ad is only £9.99 for 28 days, so much better value than, ahem, some other sites you might choose to advertise on...

Cheers,

Stuart

The date has been moved forward since that post. The cutoff is now January 1, 2009.

Hi,

Just had my ad approved, but I've been marked as ready for payment? Is this a mistake, or have the cut offs shifted again?

Thanks.

Thank you. It was me that sorted your ad, and I may have just pushed the button twice. paperbag

can i please ask why there is no free advert option, i do not want to pay 9.99 to place an advert, i am only after a basic ad, it has taken me a long time to set up this account, and i used the site a lot before i got an account and not i find i have to pay. i do not think this is very good for new users.

Hello Adam

Most of the information is in this thread, look for posts from Stuart and Matt Dell.

The free advert (to all) was stopped some time ago now, but the above mentioned chaps explain in more detail above.

Sorry Adam, but we're sticking with our policy of rewarding account holders who've been contributing to the site for some time. £9.99 for an ad still makes us far cheaper than almost anyone else out there, and your ad will be live for far longer than it will on AutoTrader. We're not free, but we're very good value.
