biggrin jokes aside I've only been active on here for the last 3-4 months and I learnt pretty fast through observation that it's near suicide to even start a thread on the forum about anything, anything at all. Even for the most trivial things people just seem to respond in such an aggressive manner that it doesn't seem worth it for the few sensible replies you mgith get.

Noticed that certain people seem to crop up in the same places over and over again 'hanging the rod' as it were. There seems to be a lot of 'in' jokes and cliques that crop up that are generally negative and unhelpful.

ive started threads about stuff without any real problems. i think some people are just a little over sensitive, both those who start and other looking to score points.

Well I've just driven 600 miles in two days in a car that I purchased and will look after with help from several of the forums here. A great place with pleasant members if you ask me!

There are always good and bad elements to a forum, at the end of the day it's just pixels on a screen so walk away and forget about it.

There has always been this kind of thread as well for the years I have been reading the forum.

You still read General Gassing don't you.

Drop it from your favourites, stick to the "specialist" forums you have an interest in, and most of the dumb ass posts you don't get to see.

If you do post on a thread in general gassing. Post and then delete the thread from "My Stuff". If it interests you you'll find it again manually. If not, then it's best to lose it asap.
Good advice, i enjoy the specialist forums more than the general ones now. There does seem to be a lot of aggression and passive-aggressive oneupmanship. Just filter the forums you look at, or read but don't post, at the end of the day there is always someone to whom having the last word is more important, let them get on with it.

Thats what i tend to do now anyway which is a shame that there are a few good threads on general gassing and in other areas that get ruined by a select few.

Im not sure i used to be able to have a disscusion about a topic without it turning into a slagging match now every thread ends up in one even the last few btcc threads for the races ended up with a slagging match between the common names plato/neal etc im not naming any names but if you have seen the last few btcc threads a certain name apears to be just trolling.
The F1 threads are the same. During the races it's good fun with plenty of banter, then the chequered flag drops and the usual suspects turn up for the post race slanging match. They aren't "new" members either.

PH in general has gone downhill over the last few years.

I'm a new member and I can see that some of the more prolific posters started to believe their own bullst, some clearly sit on ph 24/7 and some feel the need to have an input even though their input is really not necessary . The guy who posts on every single thread and then moans that his son is somehow distant is probably my favourite "character". His son clearly doesn't know his dad wks over whatever hambites/Welshpork / siberian driver or whoever said on a Internet forum

Is a ban coming my way?
hehe I like you.
Ditto ...
I'm still trying to work out if there is a reference to a specific PH'er in therebiggrin

I still think it's a pretty good place, just ignore the odd knobheads and don't get involved with stupid internet bunfights. smile

Of course some of the knobheads are quite funny as long as you laugh at them and not with them. smile

I disagree, I think PH has become a much more troll-ridden place in this past year or so. It isn't confined to the newer and younger members either. Quite how you would measure this in objective terms, I am not sure, but even the most genuine of postings often degenerates into someone being disgusted / outraged / plain rude. This is inevitable in the longer threads, but it seems to happen before the first page is even complete now.
It's a vicious circle I think, and I know I'm guilty of it.
The more idiots register with PH, the less tolerant I become and often end up getting irritated at next to nothing.
THis thread is a good example. I saw your first post and that you had spelled "you" as "u" like a small child. It instantly got my back up and it was all I could do to stop myself.
And then lo and behold I read more of your posts and you are actually a coherent adult who makes reasonable posts.
BUt that inherent irritation and intolerance of the lower end of the posters on here almost made me not read any further, if that makes sense.
Not sure how it could be changed though
