I would laugh but it's bloody serious and you guys are taking the piss!

12 people on a 'development team' what are they developing - it's certainly not the forum. 12 people for this pile of clunkiness with all the issues and problems. Are you waiting on the next school holidays to get some more experienced recruits ?

Let's not even start on the Phonesafe issue that you ignore.

I just want to make it clear, I'm in no way responsible for any data breaches that may have occurred.
I love your website smile
There's still something hosted there?! hehe
I feel it deserves the full 1995 web 1.0 treatment resplendent with frames, starfield gifs and embeded midi files.
You might just be on to something there, time to remove my front page trolling and break out notepad hehe

In reference to recent posts, we have conducted an investigation in the alleged breach. To our knowledge no data breach has occurred, and to this end no breach has been reported to the ICO. We do have written internal policies and procedures in place to alert us to and deal with a data breach if one occurs. None of our Data Breach protocols have been triggered.

I have been in contact with the PistonHeads technology team and they are continuing to work on implementing HTTPS on all pages that have personal data (e.g. login and registration) as a top priority and are close to being able to confirm a timeframe on when this work will be released. Once this is known they will be providing another update.

Can you confirm that our passwords are stored hashed with a salt value? Which hashing algorithm is used?

Oh right, thanks for that thumbup I skimmed it and didn't realise he was a staff member. Properly stored passwords are something at least.

I do wonder what privileges the moderator and various official PistonHeads staff accounts have?

Only ask as presumably they're also using plain text to logon from god only knows where.

I don't have a page 12. What page is it for those of us who have changed the setting to the max of 80 posts per page?

What if we, the site users, decided we weren't prepared to take the risk and stopped visiting the site?

If nobody logged in for a week surely that would get some attention? Especially once the advertisers realised.

Remember, this is a business so business rules apply:
1) does fixing this drive more traffic to the site?
2) does not fixing it mean traffic will reduce?

1) will be hard to model and 2) isn't happening.

The problem is that it's a bit like locked fire exits in a shop/club/cinema. No-one notices the issue until the place is on fire.

Great idea but I'd be really impressed if more than 10% of the posters could be reached/convinced.

Plus some of us don't need to as we use a unique password so it doesn't matter if it gets hacked.

The forum posters are not the business model, the classifieds are. This is autotrader with a forum attached. Hence most of the time and money (however little that might be) will be spent on that part of the site.
