You've reduced ads by 25%, yet it [i]feels[/] like there are more. Appears more intrusive as a user, so I hope the revenue is up to compensate.

I assume the trend for larger adverts is due to people ignoring the regular ones? Somewhat surprised by this, as it's not apparent on any of the other forums that I frequent.

Fair point on the brands, they do appear to be more in keeping with what I would expect to find on a motoring site.

Oh, and welcome to he lion's den hehe

Thank you for the explanation Lee, the drop down ads that auto expand/play sounds. Could you clarify if these have slipped through the net or are the Larger ads you mention?

Podie / Keyser

For clarification in the forum there should be no automated take/over, expansion or noise ads.
In classifieds and news we are testing drop down at very low frequency with relevancy being the focus.

I've been fairly vocal in this thread, so thanks for the feedback Lee.

When are you going to show some pride in your website and stop the top banner from covering the site logo?
When do you see this - I don't on PC or Android tablet?

Was anyone really expecting anything different? Websites and staff to run them are expensive compared to ad income that hardly anyone clicks on. Simply displaying an advert is pennies to the site itself. Actual clicks are worth more but overall clicks are few and far between. Moving to Haymarket has meant a desire to not just clear any costs but also to actually make a profit. You may say 'get it off the site' (when you have precisely ZERO say in what is or isn't shown, despite your own perceived authority by the tone and manor of the request) but if it means running at a profit or losing staff and/or features then your 'demands' will mean precise fk all. Sorry.

Yes, But without the users a website is worth not a lot. It's a two way street and a balancing act to get right I guess.

Personally PH adverts and their inability to control their suppliers (unlike every other site I frequent) drove me to adblocker a long time ago.

But then in a way you're not helping them at all by reducing all advertising income from even displaying the ads. I appreciate why you do it but if everyone did it then they would make even more drastic moves to bring income.

Would people rather £5 a month/£40 a year and no adverts?

Was about to suggest exactly this. As per my earlier post, I got so narked I adblock but I'd be happy to pay an annual subscription for an ad-free site.

I can't see PH charging a fee to be a member.

Plenty of websites / forums offer the "supporting member" option. You could have the option of no ads for supporting members.

Unsure where I stand on that tbh, a few years back I probably would have paid a small membership fee, but now? Hmm not so much.

I've added an Ad Blocker but it has made no difference. I'm using Firefox. It is really getting on my nerves and in all honesty puts me off visiting the site. I currently have 'Hot Deals!' on the RHS and 'Recently Bought' popping up at the bottom.
What ad blocker?

I use adblockplus, and I have no idea what the fuss is about. Not seen an advert for years!

The huge 3 dropdown ad is back, for me at least.

Please get rid of it.

Thanks.

Yeah I don't quite get the ad issues.

I will never click an advert on a website, they are of no interest to me. They're never the best deals and most of the time totally irrelevant to what I want.

Chrome and Adblock. Job done. PH will never get income from me and adverts and they won't spoil my experience. No doubt this will all change with the new "mobile" skin.

I know this doesn't apply to those on locked IT systems but I'd just use my mobile if it bothered me that much.

I certainly wouldn't pay a subscription. I'd be more likely to move to the TVR as I suspect a lot of other TVR owners.
