Not yet - can you read it?

Just not post?

I'll leave this here

That is, of course, up to the user to do so! If you don't want to then that's absolutely fine, we aren't going to start throwing the ban hammer around, it just helps us to improve the forum smile

Still read, can't post. I'm expecting a whole bunch more people to get banned today though. It hasn't gone well has it, you'd thing they learn from when they first brought out GTI and auto-switched everyone to it without warning...

Looked at my posts in the thread, I still couldn't find anything inflammatory...

I've been banned from the 'Hello PHers, welcome to new look forums' for providing my honest feedback on the shambles that has decended. Jack didn't like it apparently.

Posts like this are completely unhelpful and will get the user banned from the thread. We have stated that by providing constructive feedback, we can work on getting any issues ironed out. smile

I assume Jack has been banning almost every other poster on that thread today if he's only after helpful feedback.

Was that the one where you called the staff idiots?
If so, I'm not surprised.

Why insult people who are doing their job?

If they ask for feedback and the feedback is bad, then they failed at their job (making an effective forum for the users to enjoy) .
You can't ask for "nice feedback only plz cos i am sensitive snowflake".

I don't mind it on the web, I used big blue before, and it worked fine, this works fine except for the grey fonts on read threads, which I believe they are working on.
On my phone it's crap.

Insulting and abusing staff isn't "bad feedback", it's unwarranted abuse.

Sure, by all means tell them you don't like the changes. Insulting staff who are just doing their jobs, though, is completely unacceptable.

I am appalled by some of the hysterical abuse being posted to the staff in that skin feedback thread. Some people need to have a serious word with themselves.

I haven't seen anything that was "abuse" unless it happened on posts which were since deleted.
To say someone is useless or bad at their job is harsh but it's not abuse unless it's not true. The people who are in charge of the processes here really have not shown themselves in a good light IMO. I do work in the Industry in projects but not web design.

This would be the equivalent of someone ripping out a perfectly good, working phone system and replacing it with one that does most of the things the same but has some major differences in how it looks and "feels" and as such the users can't use the phones correctly.
Again we would do a phased rollout with lots of user acceptance testing, something which has totally been omitted here.

Because they are clearly not up to the job they've been employed to do rolleyes

How do you know what they have been asked to do by their managers?

Unless they are in 1930's Germany they should be able to have sensible conversations on how to improve these forums in the right way. If the devs can't then we're in worse trouble than we think.

I'm sure they do, but that doesn't resolve resource constraints, investments and lots of stuff that goes on behind the scenes that we never see as humble users of the forum - and it is certainly no excuse for abuse and calling people idiots.

Great work on the comparison to 1930's Germany, we hadn't got to "Hitler" on the other thread so I'm glad everyone is keeping their perspective about a minor design change. rolleyes

Never any excuse for abusing people, which is something I don't really do. I don't believe the budget excuse because how do forums like MX5Nutz thrive? Oh, they use commercial off the shelf forums that don't cost the earth and are easy and cheap to maintain.

Well if no one was going to enact Godwin's Law...plus I missed my opportunity in the other thread! rolleyes

Even if that were true, it *still* isn't an excuse to abuse and insult people, especially when you know perfectly well they wouldn't be able to respond in kind even if they wanted to. It's frankly a cowardly way to behave, abusing someone you know won't be able to fight back.

And what if they are implementing something they have instructed to? Much as the PH "collective" seem to advocate a stance of "you should leave your job / swear at your manager / refuse to do it", back in the real world most people have little choice but to do as they are told even if they don't really agree it's the best move. It's not their business, it's not their money, the person paying for it all calls the shots. A workplace isn't a democracy.

And even setting aside all that - the people who are the public face of Haymarket, posting in those threads, are NOT the people who made the decisions or carried out the work anyway. So "not up to the job they've been employed to do" doesn't apply.

All irrelevant anyway. It's simply not acceptable to think the best response to a change you don't like on a website is to abuse and insult the staff.
