I've not seen a post from any of you in Advanced Driving.
Why?
Perhaps all of you should, if you haven't already, undertake one of the recognised AD courses.
It'd make a good series of articles and, perhaps, encourage Members to also do so, thus increasing the number of thinking drivers on our roads.
There'd also be a PR opportunity here.

There were mutterings of this some time ago, but nothing seemed to come of it. IIRC it was Riggers in the firing line who has, err, gone.

I won't hold my breath, observing how quickly my topic was moved to a backwater.
I might yet call chicken.

There are already some top quality articles posted by fellow PHers; which was the whole purpose of the forum to start with.

If you want to write up your experiences, then fill yer boots, as that is what the forum is for.

Not sure anything else needs to be said.

I think you're referring to this thread from a year ago.

It lead to this much shorter thread where I had a moan about it, and never got a response.

PH members seem to be more car enthusiasts rather than driving enthusiasts, but given that PH membership covers a wide cross-section of the UK population it's not surprising. Becoming a better driver takes effort, and very few people actually care enough to make that effort. I suspect that most share the same delusion that many of the UK's 30 million plus licence holders have - namely that the problem is other drivers, not themselves.

PH could easily take an editorial stance proposing better training and skills as an alternative to ever-reducing limits and increasing legislation, but it chooses not to. I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Thanks, I missed those threads but they explain things here.
Well, the attitudes expressed, especially from the 'site heirarchy, will mean the continuing of the dumbing down of driving from the authorities.
I don't understand it though, why wouldn't the 'site want to encourage the Members to become safer drivers?

Who are you asking to do this encouragement? This is a community of users, in a space provided by the site owners. Surely the users continual discussions are sufficient?

I'm asking that the journalists who are employed by the 'site owners should undertake AD courses, describe their experiences and encourage the Membership to also do so.

Because I fervently believe that AD will provide the argument to counter the constant attack from such as BRAKE who appear to have much more influence on Government policy than any of the AD organisations.

Therefore, the more who, especially in the media, understand and apply AD, the better will be the counter argument.

How many times do we who subscribe to the AD approach have to spell it out here, on a 'site supposedly dedicated to cars and driving?

Use the AD way and the roads will so much safer.

Oh, many of us are not slow.

I'm wasting my time though, aren't I?

Ok, your view.
Me, I'm a 64 year old who has enjoyed fast motorcycles, cars and driving from my teens and, perhaps had, in the past, the best years for that pursuit.
All I'm trying to do is to help others to be able to do so, using the current means of communication and potential means of influence.
BRAKE are going to win unless there is a concerted effort to challenge them from a position of logic.

I was involved in the original challenge to Riggers. Real shame he didn't take up the challenge (nor respond to my email about it).

I'd love to see part of the team take up the challenge. Even if it was just a couple of hours out with one of the 'AD crew' on here, there are loads of volunteers.

Just found this thread and it raises one of my questions about driving.how many learn to drive pass the test and thats it they think they cant or wont get any better.
I have been tested half a dozen times as a requirement to drive company cars this picks up sloppy or bad habits.had many sessions with a family friend who is a police driving instructor.two security driving courses for anti-hijack and escape driving and I still think I'm only just above average .
