PH Wishlist Item - Subscribe to OP within Threads

Hello,

I think a good feature of PH would be a new ability to 'watch' a thread but have it only show up in your 'My Stuff' view when the OP posts.

There are so many threads on here, particularly build or other project threads where 90% of the posts are people asking if there have been any updates etc. The secret tunnels thread is a classic example. Most of us were only interested in the thread when the OP posted and got over excited each time it popped up in 'My Stuff' only to be disappointed when it was just another person bumping the thread. Flemke's F1 thread is another, I know plenty of people are happy to use it as a dumping ground for anything F1 related but I was more interested in Flemke's story of owning/crashing/rebuilding his particular car.

If I could subscribe to Posters within threads (perhaps multiple, not just the OP), that would be even better.

I'd be interested to hear any comments from others or answer any questions on my hastily thought about and described idea.

Yeah I did wonder if that was the case.

However I was also looking to see if anyone else agreed with me that it would be a feature that they would want/use.

It can't just be me that see's a favourite thread (e.g. the V8 LexSpace thread) pop up in 'My Stuff' only to be disappointed that the only update is someone saying "+1" or "Great work".

I would like this too. Some threads have the potential to be great but there is no much noise, it is difficult stay on track of what is happening.

Either that or a way to only see OPs posts so you can get up to speed (so to speak).

I'm in, would be a good feature for quite a few of the threads that I watch. Is it really complicated to implement?

Great idea. I have plenty of build threads in readers cars and also homes and diy where this would be great.

I'd like it but I'd settle for a filter by user option to only display posts by a specific user.

Would be a good addition - similar/along the lines of a tick box to send notifications when the OP replies, typeathing?

ETA to avoid confusion - Just as an OP can recieve notifications when there is a reply to their posting

A filter by poster, a subscribe by poster I don't really mind. I would just love a way of being able to ignore a thread until something exciting happens (usually the OP posting an update).
