Sorry Ted, but the new "my posts" page is a PITA. Just my opinion of course! ;)

Thanks for the constructive criticism.

Would it be better to show the last 30 days by default rather than calendar month?

How about the last N days (Where N is in one's profile) defaulting to ten or so?

Some posters are more prolific than others...

Apologies Ted, I guess it does read a little harsh! A rolling 30 days sounds like a great idea - what was the problem with the old system?

The problem with the old system was using 'n' posts isn't efficient in database terms, whereas a time based system is very efficient.

Defo, first day of the month always confuses me. A rolling system, even if its just 10-15 days (as thats all that really matters) would be great.

What does PITA stand for? or do i really not want to know?

PITA - Pain in the `arris.

Remind me never to employ you as a divorce lawyer. 30 days is offered, and you bid DOWN to 15?

Was just going to start a thread on exactly the same thing.

Rolling 'n' days/weeks would be fine

Absolutely!!!!

(I too preferred it the way it was)

As mentioned before, its very difficult to know if somebody has replied to an earlier post.

Eg...you post a topic in say August. Somebody replies in September....you have no idea if it is October!

To provide positive crticism....the longer what's new screen is good, it's logic is not!

Ted:

What about if the top pane, threads I started, displayed the last say ten threads, in "last reply" sequence (i.e. as before)and the bottom pane (replied to) was in the last 30 days.

Sort of compomise, but would improve user functionality.

I'll keep thinking on this one.

Displaying the last ten threads is very inefficient as some people will have threads spanning a few days, some a few months and coping with the lowest common denominator puts a great load on the database.

Maybe with some time constraints? If nobody has posted, then they can fade to oblivion.

I'm used to it already . . .

30 days? I would go mad. Scrolling from month to month is a good idea actually - although it takes some getting used to.

It also displays nice 'n tidy I'm posting on way too much topics . . .

The bookmark function comes in handy here: every month I add up a few.

My bottomline: let's keep it the way it is now.

Would this put less load on the system? (Since the server wouldn't have to order the posts by 'most recent' or whatever, it would simply flag up if there's new posts or not? :

Since when you view each thread it knows which posts are new (there's a little blue line then the new posts start), how hard would it be to have each thread listed in 'contributions' have NEW next to it, or be in bold, or highlighted in blue, or something to show if there are new posts in that thread, so that you don't have to check the threads yourself for new posts?

If that requires too much server load when you view your contributions page, then then the load could be spread/reduced by setting a 'flag' variable for each thread contributor, at the instant someone replies to a thread.

Make any sense? So we have person A,B,C,D posting on a thread, person A posts a reply, at that instant B,C,D have their contributions pages updated with the thread title in bold (for example).

(sorry if that's a dunce explanation!)

Should take little server load, though it will require a little extra flag checking if the contributions page is generated on-the-fly (but not as much as checking thru and sorting every thread there and then).
