In some respects Motoring News is no longer required and could be merged back into General Gassing.

It's a fair point.

Motoring News is a bit ambiguous - I tend to think of it as a place to put a story about new cars when there isn't a specific place - such as TVR, Lotus or Jap Chat - to put it. Everything else tends to go into General Gassing, apart from Speeding, Motorsport and Track Days. I'm not convinced that the separation between General and Motoring is a worthwhile distinction now that we have Pie & Piston to put non-motoring threads.
