Oddly, I just did that and it got removed.

Is there some offense at finding out if people can start polls?

Do we get stopped from starting polls (IYSWIM)?

You were creating pointless polls and had it removed for a short term, you then started again and had it permanently removed.

Oh, well that at least explains why I can (well, at the moment ;-) ) create polls.....

I started one to see if I could. I could, it was removed.

wobble

Pointless ? are you saying that all threads on PH have a point ? At least they were entertaining and in good spirit.

Please, show me the part of the rules which will help me define whether, by your own standards, a thread or a poll is 'pointless' or not ?

I think the fact that you have posted quite a few polls in January and again in February which were deleted and you haven't said a thing about it till now when you have obviously tried to create another speaks volumes as to what you thought of them yourself.

Well one of the ones I deleted was about prostitutes, so yes I think it is for the greater good.

and ?

whats wrong with that then exactly ? Plenty of people use prostitues on a regular basis and have been doing so for thousands of years. Why shouldn't that be a basis for a poll or a discussion ?

"Poll: Are PHers Perverts?"

are you telling me that's any less provocative or pointless ?

I think the fact that you failed to communicate with me on both occasions about removing some of my posting rights speaks volumes about you as a moderator.

I'll ask you again, show me the part of the rules which will help me define whether, by your own standards, a thread or a poll is 'pointless' or not ?

Who said I removed them? You're jumping to conclusions here. Forum membership ANYWHERE is a privilege, not a right. Not all rules are written, but a certain amount of common sense is required.

You've only had your polling ability removed, you haven't had a part of your body cut off.

Ps. And thank you for pointing out the other poll, that has also been removed.

I've been around here as long as you have, I also advertise commercially on the site. No big deal, but it does serve to reinforce my belief that at the very least, you should have sent me a warning first. Ironic that you talk about respect for others.

But hey, i'm sure that you have all the answers. I'll bow to your superior intellect and beliefs of what is and isn't pointless and/or relevant to the throwaway banter section of an internet forum. Clearly the pie and the piston is way more serious and earnest that I previously thought and I have totally misread and misconstrued the titles and content of thousands of seemingly inconsequential and banal threads over the years.

It's a motoring website!
Even if P&P is a 'virtual pub' there has to be somewhere to draw the line
There is also no restriction on who reads it, and who knows how young the kids that come on here are...
