I posted a thread asking for advice on a watch purchase. Bully-boys flock to it, call me some disgraceful names, the thread gets removed because it "turned sour". Wouldn't it have made more sense to simply delete the offending comments? Send a lesson out to those who trolled me instead of sending out the message that if someone asks for guidance it's ok to troll them and their thread will be deleted!

Having glanced at your posting history, it seems to consist of abusing others, and bigging yourself up.
That just may explain things.

Troll gets trolled - who would have guessed?
Sorry, I should have said, I'm asking the moderators. Cheers chap.

So why do it?
Either you don't know what ad hominem means or you haven't read the thread in question. Since it has been deleted, I guess you haven't read the ad hominem attacks on me, not by me.

I think this answers your question smile
No it doesn't. Different thread and doesn't meet the criteria for an ad hominem; the personal attack should be in reply to a point to which the attacker has no reply. Simply calling someone an idiot does not constitute an ad hominem.

What an unfriendly place. Some of you people must have very empty lives if the best thing you can do with a day off work is to follow me around a message board calling me names!

I'm glad none of you work for me.
