Procedure when getting banned from a thread

Mods,

Do you generally email users after banning them from a thread?

Seems I've been banned from the new GTi/UI thread without a reason given, don't think my posts were too inflammatory.

Is there a defined procedure Mods/PH Staff follow?

It would normally coincide with a post deletion mail, that explains why the post was removed. If a thread prune took place then only the first post in the prune gets a mail.

It's a good point, but at the mo an automatic email option doesn't come up for the mods to send. I'll get it added to our long list of to-do's.

I don't think any of my posts were removed though? Nor the thread being pruned that included my posts?

Also forgot to add in my quote above That we do get the auto email option when we issue a forum Ban, and we fill in the box with the reason.

I'm expecting that to change if you can manage to get banned from the Skin thread

Example, if you were rude to me on this thread, I would ban you from this thread only. IF you really p*ssed me off on this thread, and you were not behaving on other threads in this forum, I could issue a temporary/Permanent forum ban. That would stop you posting on any thread in this forum.

Checked last night but there wasn't anything. First time in ten years I have been excluded from a thread.

Still read, can't post. I'm expecting a whole bunch more people to get banned today though. It hasn't gone well has it, you'd thing they learn from when they first brought out GTI and auto-switched everyone to it without warning...

Looked at my posts in the thread, I still couldn't find anything inflammatory...

How do you know what they have been asked to do by their managers?

Unless they are in 1930's Germany they should be able to have sensible conversations on how to improve these forums in the right way. If the devs can't then we're in worse trouble than we think.

Great work on the comparison to 1930's Germany, we hadn't got to "Hitler" on the other thread so I'm glad everyone is keeping their perspective about a minor design change.

Never any excuse for abusing people, which is something I don't really do. I don't believe the budget excuse because how do forums like MX5Nutz thrive? Oh, they use commercial off the shelf forums that don't cost the earth and are easy and cheap to maintain.

Well if no one was going to enact Godwin's Law...plus I missed my opportunity in the other thread!
