Admiral (!) took mine for ~£700. Read the policy to understand what you do and don't get, and what you do or don't want eg 3'rd party cover on non owned vehicles, glass replacement cost cap, new for old in yr.1, "market" value on write off or agreed value, repair location of your choice or theirs, car hire period on claim, legal expenses cover on pursuing a claim, protected or guaranteed no claims, off public road track day cover, nurburgring - vehicle, other vehicles and the ring itself damage cover.
PLEASE be careful with Admiral, as a broker High Net Worth Insurance and you definitely get what you pay for. Edited by rjn21 on Friday 15th August 20:00
If you read the policy you will usually be required to get two estimates if you are not using "their" approved repairer. This will mean you will need to arrange for the car to be transported to two different repairers for estimates if its not driveable and they will obviously authorise the cheapest. They will usually have written into the policy they will only pay "reasonable" labour charges to repair the vehicle, I am aware of a similar thread on the Aston Martin forum where owners have been told by Admiral they will only cover £45 per hour as being "reasonable" and owners will have to pay the additional!
All quality high net worth policies will allow YOUR choice of repairer and will recover the vehicle at the scene of the accident to a repairer of your choice, you will also get agreed value with most and comprehensive driving other cars.
Its also worth noting that in the event of an unrecovered theft, some "budget" insurers will not allow retention of any cherished plate and keep the plate!
Sorry for the rant but sometimes cheap isn't always best!
Just thought I'd see what a it would cost me to insure an Aventador. £36,600 ! Ok, 67 years old, 6 points for 1 speeding 2 yrs ago incident, and a minor bump 3 yrs ago. I suppose having once qualified as a driving instructor isn't of any use. And as for the muppets I see driving every day.........
Update. Now a quote of £3,347.00
