I had mine out for a wee run today to see a Ferrari ( a different kind of Italian car) friend and his new daughter. No salt, just lots of wet roads. Great fun as always! My friend commented on the noise although we weren't above 5500rpm due to roads and conditions.
Anyway, just sharing that I had my old banger out for the day. They go so much better when you keep using them!

Hi Jonathan
I understood the low body referred to the roof and doors and not to the height of the body off the ground. I understand that the distance from the ground to the cills and top arches etc has always been the same. I believe the low body cars are about 1-2'' lower in the roof?
Am I mistaken? If you have had both then presumably you can compare and explain the headroom etc for us. I would be greatly interested in your reply and experience.

Hi
I haven't owned both, but I have seen the different versions in close proximity several times. I can confirm that not only are the height of the roof and doors different in the later version (to the benefit of internal headroom) , but the height of the body off the ground is definitely different (to the benefit of ground clearance). I think you can see the difference in ride height from the photos in this thread (have a look at the rear wheelarch gap for the two black cars). You can also see it clearly in the following image with the profiles of the different versions overlaid, borrowed from the very informative Countach thread on lamborghinichat.com:

So why would anyone want a 'lowbody' with less room and with road hump challenges? Well, the headroom is OK for anyone under 5'11", and road humps are usually OK if you proceed at very low speed and diagonally, and it looks even better!

In the overlay the cars are different lengths so it can be compared exactly. The only way is for identical distances etc. I have read the thread on F chat previously and had recalled everything except the ground clearance etc. I will recheck.

These early cars are something else, they are still an awesome sight.
Imagine seeing these as a kid (even an adult!) in the 70's, it must have seemed like it had just landed from outta space or from another universe.
What is the going rate for an LP400 if you can get one, 400k ?
I saw my first one in Glasgow about 1977! With a Bora and BB! I got sooooooooooo excited and turned my car around and followed them till they parked up. Still one of the most memorable days of my life.Imagine seeing these as a kid (even an adult!) in the 70's, it must have seemed like it had just landed from outta space or from another universe.

I was 19 at the time. My then GF just sighed........
it is when you compare them to the cars that were for sale then, that you get a better idea of how amazing they were. A Triumph Dolomite Sprint was regarded as a good spot back then!
That was probably the only CT I ever saw on the road until I joined up with the lambo club! With about 110 left in the UK now, they are still a pretty rare spot!

Hi Paul,
Brilliant! One of those questions I thought wouldn't be answered but there you go!!
Interesting, didn't realise it was just Espadas, thought it was all UK cars. Knew he was antipodean but had assumed Australian. Glad he has continued with it and look forward to seeing something published soon.
Happy to submit photos I have of Espadas if the registry is including this.
Cheers

He did all lambs, but I have been working in the background on Espadas, with Paul and two others.
Paul was there in 93/94 and then went to work for car asa researcher administrator. He still has all his data. I don't know what his plans are for using it all and will ask him

Hi all, another question. Whats the paint code / colour used on the QV wheels?
Tks
Rob
Silver was the standard colour. The factory would paint the wheels gold if you wished. I don't know the paint code though. Tks
Rob
Possibly ask on Ferrari chat the lambo forum and some of our American friends will definitely know the answer to all such questions! I got a row for not having the correct OZ stickers on my refurbished wheels!
Let us know if you get an answer

They were basically the same car up to the b pillar other than the steel roof on the bora. They are both stunning cars although the Bora is my favourite. I think I only saw one other bora on the road and that was on the continent.
The production numbers on all these cars is so tiny and the numbers in the UK miniscule that actually seeing one, unless you know a local owner is quite a small chance. I drive to London a lot and frequently don't see a Lambo/Ferrari or Maser of ANY type the whole way up or down!
There were about 564 Bora's produced of which roughly 10% would be expected to come here and about 1800 Meraks although most were the 2 Litre which didn't come here.
Countachs about 110 left here from just over 2000 made.
There are about 31,000,000 cars on the road in the UK.
Not too surprising when you think about it......
As i understand it there is about 13-14 QV's left here. My guess is the majority are Anniversary cars as they were the most common by number and were made just as the UK had the boom times of the 88/89.
I know someone prepared a list of all RHD cars but I don't know if they intend to publish that list or not. I am still chasing that up

Paul, when I get chance I can modify lp112.com to show RHD/LHD status and add pages for UK cars if you want.
The former is relatively easier, the latter more involved - I presume you are thinking about UK market cars - which would then exclude imported cars now in the UK, but list UK cars that had been exported - for instance ?

Between, Paul in NZ; Kevin in Belgium and Del in spain and myself we have a list of about 170+Uk Espadas. Del said someone got his complete list of countachs. Was it you?
Can you give me some ideas of how we can publish all this information so there is a permanent resource available for posterity...and the curious!

I had some guys around the garage tonight to look at my old cars and in particular the QV. I was asked if I could arrange or would be part of a Scottish countach 'meeting;' for some photos to be taken. There are only about 5 up here that I know of.
Others have suggested that we organise a Countach meeting in the UK.
Is there any real enthusiasm for this idea? Anyone who thinks it is an idea would have to be prepared to drive about 250-300 miles one way, as possibly a manchester/Yorkshire area meet would be most central?
Please feel free to add or subtract from this concept. Up here we are used to having to travel to events, but suggesting that it must be within say 50 miles of London, isn't going to be popular with everyone!
