I always believed that the later QV was my favourite but find the earlier S cars with the lower body absolutely intoxicating. I love the narrowed front end and the lower roof line and if honest prefer the original style engine lid. 1979-1981 seems to be flicking my switch quite firmly. How much lower are these cars than the QV or even Anniversary models?

I believe they are 3 inches lower and understand all the panels are different between the low and high(?) bodies.

One other visual clue of a low body is that the trailing edge of the front wheel arch protrudes out more at the bottom.

I remember as a kid seeing an early S owned by Pullen, think that's his name, from Carrera sport and he had lowered the suspension also. It was a plumb colour and was absolutely stunning.
Really,really want one!

Managed to find the old number plates ...... the number was eventually removed which took some time as there was a clerical error with dvla on import into the UK which delayed the number being transferred .....

Yep .... right first time ....it was the 5 star car out of portman london ...... I have a letter from portman somewhere relating to the cock up with the reg on import ...

Here's the letter from portman .....

Martin 350, you have no idea how much of my day you made in posting the 1989 photograph of F920OYR
Nigel holland , the only other owner of chassis 12399, gave me the bottle of lamborghini wine that was given to him by the factory when he collected the car, but sadly did not have any photos of the car taken during his ownership from 1988 to 2001

So it was a real treat to find this castle Combe photo

Please could you and robert w and Diw 35, and any others post any photos of F920OYR/chassis no 12399, that you might have lurking around ( or for that matter photos of ANY countach)

Had any of you seen/been in /have any stories of F920OYR In the period between 1988-2001?

Eric twinge....best wishes to you

Hi
Delighted to help, but I don't have much. 12399 registered F920OYR supplied 25.07.88 to Holland. It arrived at the same time as F919OYR, which was also red (but now is black). Photo below was taken at the Silverstone Historic Festival by me. I believe it was in 1993 - I can find out if you want?

I love the idea that NIgel Holland had the car from 1988 to 2001 and didn't have a single photo of it! I heard it was his fourth or fifth Countach - maybe after so many he didn't take photos of them! Do you know any stories about him and Countachs? He must have some!

Wow. That looks like a Lambo meeting at Portman's Service Department in Ealing? When was that? Do you have any more photos of the event - looks like a good turnout! Car was (later, I think) registered "653RU" for many years and may still be.

That'd be the one!
I am sure you guys would agree, modern supercars are not in the same league.

The photo above of F920OYR is from Historic Festival in 1993. Found some of F920OYR from 1992 too - will post them too. Ivor - you've given me an idea - I'll put some LCUK event photos and Portman Ealing photos on too that haven't seen the light of day before. Anyone else got any photos that haven't seen the light of day from LCUK events or testdays?

Here's another pic of Mike's car, taken at one the Carrera Sport days at Goodwood in the late 80's

Got quite a few of Mike's in fact, just haven't got round to scanning the old photos.

May very well have some of F920 too, I'll have a look over the coming weeks.

Wow - isn't that Mike Pullen's yellow Silhouette in the background?

Any photos of other Countachs anyone, especially RHD 5000S from the 1980s would be great.

Here is Mike Pullen's low body above from the front..

...to compliment the photos above, here is a Lambo Club UK meeting which was wonderful at the Brickmakers Arms in Windlesham in 1991 - a few rarely seen cars here: the apricot Countach with brown interior, which is now navy blue and in Australia. 1378KV is LP500S or 5000S (can never get that one) 12554, which later had a wing put back on it - anyone know where the car is now? Would like to know. Sold on ebay in 2005 then disappeared. Hidden in the back is a RHD blue LP400 belonging to Mike Lake.

Those were the days! Great cars at all events, even a small pub meeting.

[Of course you can see the very famous orange Jarama plus one of the two RHD yellow Miura SVs which at the time was a normal car and now is £1m worth!]

And also alongside the photo at Portman Lamborghini in Ealing, here is a photo I took there in 1991. Yellow LP400 in RHD plus RHD 88 Countach (now lives in Malaysia)and another RHD Miura SV (you used to see them quite a lot in those days!). Was never quite sure why that Ferrari 288GTO was at Lamborghini UK's Service Dept.

Yep that is Mike's Silhouette. I have a couple of snaps of that too - really must get round to scanning a load of these!

Few more from the same or similar event. I went to quite a few of them in the late 80's, early nineties. One particular event saw a huge number of Countaches present and they did a parade lap. I was in my friend's blue S3 Espada half hanging out of the window trying to take photos...with not much success sadly. This would have been 1990 I think.

Vic Sawyer was quite a frequent attender in his QV as seen below.

OK, so before I get carried away, here are a last two: two of the RHD 88 Countachs in white at Silverstone Historic in 1992 and JYP43N RHD LP400 in red as it used to be (now it's yellow)

Historic Festival and LCUK meetings in the 1980s and early 1990s were just superb.

Robert - I've got snaps of that apricot Countach too somewhere. I saw it at Castle Combe for one of the World Sports Car magazine track days run around the similar time to Mike's. Quite an eye catcher but all for the wrong reasons eh?

But! Did you ever see the pink QV with the grey ducts/vents with blue interior that went to some of these events?? That was something else! Will dig out a pic and put up here soon. I've even got a picture of me sitting in it.

Great shots from the Ealing Service Dept. I too went there once but the photos are plan awful quality sadly. Many CTs outside and a nice LM inside being worked on.

Did that black Miura used to have the reg no LAM 130?? I saw that car parked outside Eurospares back when Vince Punmo ran it, the car was signed by Ferruccio himself. I lived in Halstead all my childhood life and spent most of my summers hanging around there - probably annoying James and Vince, but they never seem to mind.

Anyway, great to see these old snaps resurfacing.

Cheers

Hi, yes Miura SV did have LAM130 on it. Here is the pink car....a bit it's history: Jeff white wanted a car with the same colour outside as his girlfriend's jacket and same colour inside as her belt. He owned the car from new, then p/xd it plus an NSX for a yellow Diablo, which became LAM207. These pics were taken by me in about 1992 at the dealer who took it in p/x. Sadly, the dealer couldn't shift it, so it was repainted white!!! Very sad, but now is seen out and about a lot and looks great. Those were the days eh? I have thousands of photos of the events and the dealerships. Shame they are all 35mm, but it is worth the effort to scan them!
