I have one of the 500 slots for the 675 - but after getting price breakdown of the configuration I want, I am now seriously considering what else I could buy for the same money - my spec came to £295k - and for that I could buy an Aventador, a 488 GTB (with lots of spare cash) - I love McLaren for being UK and want to support them, but I feel they are massively overpricing the 675 vs the 650S. Is the rarity worth that premium?

I cancelled my order - but will order a spider in a heartbeat!

It doesn't take much to hit 300k, I managed to spec £328k first time through the list redface

Looking at the history of other limited edition Mclarens I'd say it's a bargain biggrin

I understand the aero package makes it supreme around a track. It certainly looks bloody fast. I may regret cancelling my order - but reckon the spider will be the one to have - it's going to sounds epic!

I really cannot understand why you would want a spider version of the 675LT. For what is such a focused car a spider would in my eyes would look just a little limp wristed. A car like this should not if at all possible be compromised, yes I know the car would be as stiff but the added weight just seems like an odd way to go

Have to say it makes a £200k used 650S look like a bargain

And a brand new 650 for 200 even more so.

...but ultimately, it makes a used 12C look like the bargain of the century! Manufacturers are getting lazy - a few styling tweaks, a bit more boost from the turbo engine, and a cap on production, and slap another £100k to the price. Its still yet another limited edition 12C...roll on the P14

Talking of bargains the 540/570 still looks like a massive bargain to me compared to the 991 Turbo and new Audi R8 V10. Neither of which look as exclusive as that does. I like the rear styling better also than the 12c/650S

When are the journo's getting them to test? I'm interesting how it's more standard suspension gets judged.

Because I have a number of vehicles and have cars that are faster. For me, it's not just about how fast a car is on paper (I have no expectation of being able to my SV around Nurburgring in under 7 minutes, Evan if the car can...., I doubt if I could!)

For me, it not about how fast someone else is able to drive the car, but about what pleasure I want out of owning a car. I take my hat off to you Streetrod, if you can take it faster around Spa or wherever, but I will not be buying this car for that reason. And , having owned the both the Aventador Coupe and the Aventador Roadster, in my opinion, why would anyone buy a new coupe?

If I really wanted a fast lap time, I'd own a real race car, as every road car is a compromise.

I respect your opinion. And this is not about fastest laps by the way; to me it is about the purpose for which the car has been designed. I look at the 765LT and think it’s as close to a road legal GT3 competition car as you are likely to get, and no one would race a GT3 spider, well not that I know of. Plus I know I am probably in the minority here but I can’t think of a current super car that looks better as a spider than as a coupe.

I am just a bit of a purest at heart

Totally agree. Had a look at the car on the production line yesterday, and am genuinely excited about it. If I was a betting man I'd say there will be a spider too, but I'd still prefer the coupe....especially with the snorkel on the roof which would be very unlikely to make it to spider form. I'm expecting (hoping) it'll be as good to drive as its power to weight ratio would suggest. I wonder whether in time it'll be seen as a P1"lite" rather than in any way a 650 Evolution - its track time is closer the the P1 than the 650...

Full production cars have started to be produced now I believe (as opposed to production prototypes) so we should be seeing something very soon I would hope.

has anyone had any luck getting any kind of discount on listed prices when buying new?

On 650s there are some very nice discounts available according to purchasers.

No discounts on 675 LT even if you can get one, as it will probably only be a cancellation slot available.
650S is on run out so pretty much sold order only and therefore smaller discounts now.
If you stumble on a dealer stock car of your liking spec wise you can probably negotiate a good discount if they have had it for a while as they will be keen to move it on

Appears yesterday was the first day whereby prospective owners could get behind the wheel of the 675LT and it appears Shmee150 has bagged one (top marks but please not green on the 675).

Will be interesting to see what the journalists think in comparison to the 488, 458 and 458 speciale. or possibly the gt3rs. Best sounding normal mclaren so far!
