Buying a McLaren - WARNING!
Discussion
McLaren have done well in salvaging the situation and I believe there is a real focus on getting things right in all areas. Year on year they are getting more things right, impressive for a manufacturer that has only really been in the game for 5 years.
This is where the OCD approach of Ron makes a difference, much as people criticise him he is a perfectionist and wants the brand to be the best.

My wife and I have just returned from a very enjoyable day at McLaren. We were given a private tour of both the Technical and Production Centres followed by lunch and 2 hours with two senior Director's keen to both listen and learn from the dealership treatment we had experienced.
Sometimes when things go wrong, all you really want is for someone from the company to listen to the problem, to recognise it is important and to reassure you that it is being taken seriously.Sounds like the Directors from Mclaren did exactly that, which is to their credit.
Also, glad to hear that you managed to find the right car.

Absolutely right.Sounds like the Directors from Mclaren did exactly that, which is to their credit.
The dealership manager on the other hand was totally inept and didn't have a clue how to look after a customer. All he had to do was agree to see me and make a meaningful apology. I was after-all in the market to buy a McLaren and he had a number he wanted to sell. Choosing as he did to say 'tough' and then insulting me by calling me a member of the public and telling me i wasn't a customer until i'd actually bought from him, was totally unbelievable. If he worked for me he'd be looking for a new job pronto, i'm amazed he's still employed where he is.........

Agree. This thread is a good indicator of individuals business and moral compasses’. I would be very careful indeed if I was doing business with those who don’t, or perhaps can’t, see the ‘Dealers’ behaviour for what it is ie dodgy.
That's a standout point for me too. Quite surprising really, but that either underlines my niavity or underlines an attribute I should hold on too. I'm clear which it is.Gassing Station | McLaren | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
