There has been much discussion about the lack of Indy's for servicing and maintenance of McClarens. Currently there are none out there and therefore a high dependence on the manufacturer and Graziano (especially).

My point / question is: i had a conversation last year (not with McClaren, but someone who had worked for them) that suggested the McClaren extended warranty is available for 10 years / 100,000 miles.

If true then this should (hopefully) drive the rise of Indy support/service in the not too distant future, to compete with the main dealer.

Anyone know the truth on the 10yr/100k miles point?

Also - on servicing costs, people quote £1,500 per annum, but reading the blurb in Evo recently, it seems the costs do vary depending on the year / mileage. What's the experience out there...

I could call the dealer I s'ppose...but it's Friday and the sun is shining.

I have asked dealer for pricing recently whilst considering a change to a 12C, was quoted this...

3rd year / 30k £1691.70

4th year / 40k £1745.00

Apart from an oil change, I don't know what else gets done for these costs, but that's without them "finding" anything else that needs changing.

I run a specialist engineering company with a service department and overheads, I wish I could charge these sort of rates!
Ok, so that's in line with expectation, but the devil is in the detail with these things i.e. what else is included apart from the oil smile

The hope is that the warranty covers anything big!

The servicing costs that other owners seem to experience (£1,500 to £2,000) seems comparable with Aston main dealers. The main difference being that there was more choice of main dealers and Indy's to go with.

We shall have to see if Mclaren choose not to offer further extensions to the Warranty beyond 5 years. It would be a little concerning if they chose not to offer it, if only because of the (few reported) transmission issues that have been experienced?

I wonder how many owners have gone for the extended warranty because of transmission concerns? I read that it's a Graziano unit, if Mclaren didn't offer an extended warranty beyond 5 years, can Graziano offer a warranty for their own transmission? Is that possible? (Forgive me if that's a stoooopid question!)

It seems that a lot of Mc owners are 'willing' to cough up £5k p.a. to run their cars, there must be a business opportunity for the odd Indy out to flourish out there.
