So I've just been over to Ikea leeds.

The charge points there are listed as:-

I plugged it into the AC point (had the choice of AC/DC) thinking it was a superfast charge point so should have been 30mins to get something over 80%. Anyway, car reported 2hr 35mins to fully charge. I only gained 10% or so in the 40mins I spent in Ikea.

Net result being,

Left home with 34%
Returned with 31% (and a peice of furniture)

Confused.
I plugged into an ecotricity fast charger and it wasn't very fast. I wonder if you have to set do something extra at the start of charging to get it going.

I haven't used the Leeds Ikea charger, but I have used the ecotricity rapid charger (same unit I believe) at Doncaster services a couple of times. It charges at the expected rate - approx 11% to 80% in about 35 minutes for instance

Was it an ecotricity charger that you used, or are there some other less potent chargers there too (22kw / 7kw) that you were using instead?

I used my ecotricity card to initialise the charge so it was deffo an ecotricity unit.

I've messaged them via facebook to see what they reckon.

As an experiment I might try Wooley Edge services tomorrow and see if I get the same result.

I need to determine if the failed attempt to charge yesterday at the polar charger is my car or the charge post too.

All in all, a bit of a PITA. I just hope the flexi charge cable I'm supposed to get on Sat morning works ok!

Your Zoë should support the 43kW AC. Did you use the tethered cable (connected to the fast charger)?

It was one of these

I didn't have to use my own cable.

I used the AC type 2 connector thus.

That's strange, one of these can take a car from little to a lot 80%) in 30 mins odd. But- the car and the charger do work out how much power can be delivered / accepted. I have used plenty of 7kw ones which are plainly not delivering the goods.

Remember also that the last 10% charge (or similar) takes a much longer period than the first majority (inverse Pareto curve) so the dash will often say 3.5 hrs but you can be at 90%in 2hrs. Hope the granny cable arrives for you soon and better still the home charger.

Question for anyone in the know...

I hate keeping my foot on the brake when stationary, I was taught to use the handbrake. But, since the zoe moves off when you release the brake will I burn the motor out or is it smart enough to know the handbrake is on and cut the power. I know I can take it out of drive but for short stops at lights that's a pain. Or should I just blind everyone behind me instead.
rtfm?

Nobodies in the know really, you're trailblazing on this one!
I've just tried this on a 20mile round trip through town. Seemed absolutely fine using the handbrake, I can't see it would do any damage whatsoever.

If anyones still interested after ordering on the 18th it will be here by the 9th - free metallic a small bonus.
Lots of Zoes have been pre reg by dealers who had to hit the quarter so anyone who missed the deal may get a good offer on a pre reg car

I'd be interested to know what sort of deals are on for new enquiries and see if we have actually bagged a bargain or what?

How's everyone getting on with public charging?

Currently registered with ecotricity, polar and cyc. It's a bit complicated. Leeds is a bit st if you're on the south like me, nearest station is asda Middleton, and it's not zoe friendly yet, they're sending an engineer out next week. Just had a successful charge at wooley edge services but that's 20+ mile round trip and over an hour of your time. Going to try Elland Road Park n ride tomorrow.

Saying that though, we bought it knowing primarily it would be home charged. Also got to hand it to renault, they are a cracking little car, drives really nicely indeed.

Hello all, just done the deal on a preregistered 64 plate Intens with the 17" optional wheels plus metallic.

With a £1500 deposit on a £8500 retail price, it's coming out at £126pm on 48 month PCP.

Will be my wife's car but I'm ridiculously excited about picking this up!

Will be grateful for all hints & tips especially around superchargers etc!!

I also ordered on the 18th, estimated delivery was between 29/12/14 and 02/01/15. Asked for an update earlier - the car is still in Southampton and they're not back at work until Monday... I'm guessing I'll not see the car till mid/ late next week by the earliest. I wasn't in a hurry to get the car but now that it's late I'm chomping at the bit. nerd

Got to hand it to renault customer services

One complimentary 3 pin flexi charger! Going to try it in a few mins when the Mrs gets back.

Update...

It works fine. I was expecting melted plugs, overheating cables, fires, death etc after reading about using these at home. It seems happy enough, no heat I can feel. Sorted.

It'll be safe enough, just very inefficent. The pic shows 11hrs to charge 60%, that puts you out for a full charge overnight. To give you a comparison my rather feeble 16A pod point charger will do a full charge in about 9 hrs.

Still for free considering they are £300 to buy, its still a nice to have. Handy to keep in the boot in case you get caught short at friends etc..

They are fine for home use provided your garage wiring is good. Probably limited to 10A for safety (the Nissan one is). Some street chargers still require 3 pin plug, so will be useful anyway.

I signed my finance today as car now due Tuesday - as I have a charge point already I have asked for a quote to fit my free one in at my work unit - should be interesting.
I am now not only getting metallic free but they are including the armrest free now as well as an apology for the wait.

So...I collected mine today. Happy with it so far (touch wood). But I have a question: once collected from the dealer, the battery indicator was showing full (foolishly I did not check the percentage), but only showing 64 miles range.
I've charged for an hour at waitrose (BG is only coming on tuesday to install my plug) and it is showing 50 miles range @ 80pct.
Isn;t this really low? By the way, I'm on eco mode, the performance indicator (or whatever is called) shows 72/100 so I'd say not too bad.

Is the range increasing with a few charges or the temperature is a killer for the batteries? Or, last, should I go back to the dealer? confusedconfused

Temperature is a killer. Mine used to register 80 miles in the summer, now more like 58. However, the miles are elastic just like the range call on a normal car- drive more efficiently and it will go further. Think of it more as a countdown timer. There is also a thread somewhere on the myrenaultzoeforum that explains how to reset the meter to your driving habits and style to be more accurate.

Have never bothered on mine, I just know that I only really need to care at about 15 miles.

As I have said the best admvice I can give on charging is splash and dash. If there is a charger where you are- use it. You then have more flexibility, less range anxiety and a car that can be used in all eventualities.
