Sport mode makes the steering heavier and I think also opens the exhaust valve in the second pipe but I don't see how it could firm up the ride without adaptive suspension? Adaptive suspension is not available on the 330e as the battery sits where the suspension electronics would normally go.

To answer my own question :-)

I spoke to BMW earlier. Apparently the M Sport does not have adaptive suspension, but the ride is 'firmed up' in sport mode.

I had assumed it was just stiffer springs and better shocks, so a bonus really!

The menu system allows you turn off the stiffer suspension and/or drivetrain settings whilst in sport mode.

The other thing is that I am slowly getting used to the auto box after years of manual. I'm not convinced yet, but getting there. What I don't like though is that in sport mode it will change down and rev to the redline. There is that much torque that there is no need to do this at all. I am now tending to drive it in 'manual' when in sport mode to try and stop it doing this.

The other thing I have noticed is that there is a definitely a flat spot in the acceleration around the 50-60mph mark, I think I read it some where else, but it is very noticeable.
I agree, when in a hurry manual gear changes works best for me and i find 5500 is the sweet spot for changing.

Hey guys, first post. 330e arrived today but I'm struggling to get the vehicle to register in the Android app. I enter the last 7 digits of the VIN and it pulls up the vehicle details however when I tap continue nothing happens.

Anyone else experienced this?

Thanks!

Connected Services isn't very consistent at weekends; that's when BMW does updates. The internet connection in my car hasn't worked since Monday until this afternoon as well so there are definitely gremlins in the system. Also, every so often, for no apparent reason, all the shortcut buttons reset! I wonder if they do OTA updates that reset the memory.

Seem to recall having a similar issue, can't remember solution, maybe a capital letter instead of a small one before the number?

Yup sorted it. Had to go to https://www.bmw-connecteddrive.co.uk/app/gb/index.... and register vehicle. After that it worked fine in the app.

I checked mine last night, will be 14 weeks from order to delivery which isn't that bad. Just hope I like it seeing as I've not sat in one, nor driven one!

Newby here too... just spent a few hours reading through all the posts on the 330e.
I've ordered mine via my salary sacrifice scheme ( no petrol allowance) at work with it only used for driving to and from work and pleasure. Currently driving a Renault Captur diesel until the lease runs out beginning of May. Originally ordered 30th Sept, because there were a free electrical charger offer finishing that day, by the time I made a few little changes, it was registered as an order a week later ( promised that the charger point offer still counts).
Originally given a date of mid March and this week it changed to mid May, hopefully will get it in March as I don't mind paying the early exit charge on my current car. Hopefully I will be ok with the government review of the salary sacrifice and other work benefits review with statement due next month. Not sure if anyone else gets there's via salary sacrifice but think I've had a ok deal with mine, we get service included, tyres, insurance up to 4 people, only put 10k a year mileage on system.
My 330e order as follows; M sport, white, red leather, electric seats and lumbar support, sunroof, orbit grey wheels, interior comfort package, mirrors folding and anti dazzle. Original price was £405 a month ( net) but with extras comes in at £450 (net) what everyone notices at my work place is that the net quote we are given is always more when we get our monthly pay. This amount is about 20% less, examples being my Captur is £245 net but only £200 comes out, everyone else says the same whatever car they have, it's about 20% cheaper. I think it could be my workplace giving us back any savings they make NI/pension wise because they don't want to be seen as benefiting from this scheme, so hoping I only pay about £350 a month and then save a few quid on electric driving as most my journeys are below the 20 mile make.
Been to a few BMW dealerships in my area and finally found a 330e Msport that mine should look like, so like a child I spent half an hour sitting in every area of the car, getting the feel of it. Unfortunately I've not had a test drive yet but going to try and book an extended test drive. Anyway, this has been a great informative post and look forward to reading and adding more as my date comes closer. Cheers All!!

Been looking at the Merc C350e today but not convinced. Having had a 520d, 1 Series, X5, and and X1, I think I'm going to be more at home in the BMW. I actually have a 330e for a 2-day demo on Monday so will be putting it through its paces. Going to try my typical 90 mile round trip commute (Motorways and A-roads) to see what realistic economy I can get from it (with a full charge at home before setting off). Will let you know how I get on later next week. I'm hoping it comes in MSport spec, as that is ideally what I want order :-).

Hi and welcome. I ordered mind around the time you ordered as my local dealership told me I'd be looking at an April delivery and my current lease expires in May. I currently have a deliver date of Jan! I'm expecting that to go back.

Our work car scheme means we have to use Lex and while they price matched at the time I do seem to be paying more than most, the basic car was approx. £550pm. We do have to take the leases at 18k miles pa and fully maintained which I suspect is what knocks the price up. I've added a few options on top too (msport+, pro nav, comfort pack, active cruise and reversing camera).

Our car scheme is not salary sacrifice so cannot comment on that but if it is always 20% then perhaps it is something related to 20% vs 40% tax bracket incorrectly assigned?

I have not heard anything about a charging point, was that just your local dealership or something I should look more into?

[ just had a look at a quote with 18k miles and it comes in about £50 a month more.
The way I think our scheme works is for example, If i earn £40k a year gross, by taking a car reduces the my gross pay by the gross amount the car costs, which is only about £3700 a year, leaving me to pay tax, NI and my pension on only £36300 a year. This savings in the above is taken off the gross car amount which is around £130 a month but then they add the BIK which is about £50 so total savings to gross of about £80 with a monthly net cost of about £240. The downside to the scheme is I lose out on my pension because it's an average salary pension @ 1/58th of my pay a year but I could technically pay more and have for example a 1/50th pension to probably even out my loss.
I think the savings I see from that £240 net a month with my pay packet only looking £200 a month lighter ATM is the savings from the NI or Pension ( or both) my company would have to pay if I was earning the £40k gross because they don't want to be seen as profiting from the scheme; colleagues tell me that the higher the car amount so for example an evoque at £500 net a month comes in only about £400 out the pay packet.
The 330e is a lot more gross at about £700 a month with about £290 savings then adding benefit in kind of about £65 a month, then comingbin at £455 ish; downside even more is I pay even less pension into my pot so some serious thinking on that side to be done. I hope I do get my works saving so it brings it down to about £350 a month. ] I think the NHS have a similar scheme but they get even better deals than mine. Not sure of the name of the NHS scheme but mine is Tusker.

Finally got the green light from my HR department today and order is being placed in the next day or so, I assume I will be looking at March/April delivery. I've gone for:

M Sport
Estuarial Blue
Oyster Interior
M Sport+

How do people go about charging on the drive? I have a garage with electric at the front of the house, is it a case of leaving it plugged in over night? Hopefully they will put a charging point in at work to save me the hassle.

My commute is 12 miles to work, 80% motorway but averaging only around 60mph due to the volume of traffic so hopefully I would get to and from work on a single charge then I can opt out of company fuel.

The charger cant be disconnected from the car when the cars locked so yes leaving it in over night is fine, i actually plug mine in under the garage door then just unplug it in the morning amd leave the lead coiled at the garage door, works great amd nodody can steal the lead as its locked under the door.

You'll certainley get 12 miles on one charge but back home will be a struggle without charging at work. My commute is about 20 miles snd i cam do that at 148mpg driving very carefully! About 14, 15 miles can be done on electric only.

Happy_Harris is right with the 14 to 15 miles on electric only. I get a bit less but my commute involves a lot of stop start due to traffic lights. I did a test last weekend. With a fully charged battery (showing 21 miles range) on a flat road, EcoPro mode, Max eDrive and Cruise Control set to 55mph, I managed 16.5 miles before the ice kicked in.

A question on battery range/sat nav.

My commute is a 42 mile round trip. Mainly quiet country B roads, but quite hilly. So far using the phone app I have managed to get the Sat Nav to recognise Home to Work.

Yesterday I did my usual journey which is hilly B roads and using a mixture of battery and engine it got to work using all the battery just as I got to work. I also managed 88mpg which I am happy considering how hilly it is, and the relatively high average speeds.

This morning I have come a more direct A road route and again it has used all the battery just as I got to work.

What I am struggling to do is programme the sat nav to recognise my journey as Home to work to Home, which would hopefully save more battery for the home leg, or is it not hat clever?

I have tried https://www.bmw-routes.com/uk/en/plan-routes/index... which allows you to do Home -Work - Home journey, however when I click send to vehicle it says sent but the car never receives it :-(

Is there any way I can do this in the app or on the sat nav itself?

...or am I wasting my time as the vehicle will not save battery for the return leg?

[do you have a charger at work? Does the sat nav on the 330e have a via point setting so your workplace is the via and then back home or close? If not, could you set a journey twice your distance 42 miles on the first leg which would take you via your place of work or fairly close ( half way) then hoping to use half your battery, then on the way back just set the 21 miles home to use the other half battery.
