Mine was almost instant. I paid in Bluewater (shopping centre) and I got the email before I was back at my car.

Nice to see a brace of superchargers, and 3 model S parked up charging.
Nice but if you rocked up and here are three charging bays all just full that short 30min coffee break has suddenly turned into at least one hour. Or you turn up all bays full of the P90Ds and 4 in a queue that's a good 90-120mins wait to recharge

Surely it will get to the stage that you can book charging slots before arriving. They could even be linked to your sat nav so you could see availability within range.

Bloody traffic lights or road works or traffic jams could scupper that or someone simply ignores those rules or someone in a desperate rush (family emergency) so rightly jumps you but then down he line that will be forgotten and mr X is hogging someone else's slot.

Charging availability from superchargers and the like are the only downside I can see when there are a lot about. I've seen superchargers now with 3 out of 4 bays full of Model S's. When there are a shed load of 3's around, I think home charging will be the only realistic way forward without wanting to pull your hair out.

Small issue for people who don't often so long journeys like myself but could be a big issue for some.

Tesla have said they were going to double the number of superchargers, but given the pre-order demand I suspect they are now looking at the number again. Preorders now over 250k!! We aren't going to see it in the UK till 2020 now, the US preorders alone seem to have eatten up the entire production quota for the first 18months+!!

Out of interest, if Tesla default in the intervening period, what happens to your deposit?
Sorry, should have qualified that a bit.

I was more talking about the risk of it being crap and/or not as advertised e.g. turns out it has only a 100 mile range or something.

If Tesla goes bump as mentioned we might be able to go CC charge back but that particular risk we're just going to swallow.

No confirmation email here still frown reservation done at about 7:45am Friday morning, anyone else still waiting?

There were at least 7 chargers, and they will be doubled in the next year. Given that I live 10 miles away i don't think it will be an issue.

There are no petrol stations there either and I managed to get there and back without a refuel smile

You get my point/potential issue.
We have countless petrol stations if ones full queue out onto the road you know it's a good 20-30 mins wait so keep driving to the next one. Tesla supercharged as yet are not that prevalent - in time sure.

So now there are 250k+ orders and Musk said he was only expecting 1/4 - 1/2 of this amount, how do we think this will this affect the production and delivery of RHD models?

I know he said they are now going to ramp up production, but if they are satisfying US orders first, then Europe and APAC LHD, then RHD will there be a cut-off point for pre-orders or will they just keep taking them?

If US and LHD orders keep coming in over the next 2 years, will these still be made ahead of any RHD models?

I know nobody knows the answer at present, so it's all just speculation. Currently I'm happy to wait to 2019 if necessary, but even 3 years is a long time and personal circumstances and the automotive industry may change by then.

I am stunned by the amount of reservations for this car though, and whilst I hate the term, it does have the potential to be a game changer if they get it right.

How many RHD markets are there though? Us and Oz? Probably a tiny proportion of the total cars ordered. I think we're going to be last unfortunately.

Given that tesla are doubling superchargers, and quadrupling destination chargers in the next year or so i don't think thats going to be much of a problem for long.

Has anyone else who ordered received a second email with account details?

I've only had the payment confirmation one.

Most of us who reserved in a store yesterday got a confirmation email a few minutes later. I expect the whole process has slowed a bit now as the U.S. reservations and the launch came on stream this morning.

I got two emails, one confirming the payment was made and the other with the subject "Welcome to Tesla". In that one, it provides a link to create a password for the account they created for the email you used when you made the reservation.

Once you do that, you are presented with a screen which confirms the date you made the reservation and there's a number in the format "RNxxxxxxxxx", which may be a reservation or build number perhaps?

You could try creating an account on www.teslamotors.com and use the same email address you reserved with and see what happens.

It seems with the Model S, reservations were given a 'sequence' number which gave an idea where you were in the build queue.
There's no sequence number in my account profile, just an 'RN' number which apparently is a random confirmation number.

Can anyone with an S tell us how the reservation process worked with them?

Only the single payment confirmation email for me. Deposit was paid around lunchtime Friday

Edit: I have tried logging into Tesla and found I already have an account. Reset password and I can get in and see my RN number.

Turns out my wife's bank had declined her payment on Friday as it flagged as a "suspicious" payment, but chose not to notify her until today, turns out they had blocked her card as well which was nice of them......

So I've done a new reservation which now puts us right at the back of the queue for UK models presumably, FFS! Ah well, confirmation email now received, only took a few hours to come through this time.

Roll on 2018! (Or more likely 2019!)

The Model S managed to get 276,000 pre-orders in just two days so can imagine today that the number is well over 300,000 by now. Really impressive considering the car only came out four days ago!

Done that and it says an account already exists, so they must have created me one when I reserved. I went through the forgotten password link and finally managed to log in, and like you say all it gives is my RN number.

I put my deposit down yesterday early morning.......only the one email so far, but I did use the forgotten password feature to get access to my account, and my order is in there........

Happy to wait 3 years (that's what I'm guesstimating) for mine to arrive.
