Who's ordered a KIA EV6 GT?

The Meridian premium audio system lacks bass. I've ordered the KIA subwoofer harness and a decent powered Subwoofer which has just arrived to replace the weedy Meridian passive one. I think this might be pretty easy to fix, I'll report back!
Very interested to hear your experience on this! What was the cost?RossP said:

Very interested to hear your experience on this! What was the cost? The hardest part was finding the specific loom connector as I don't want to splice anything. I finally found a Korean spares site that had them. I think I might have ordered 2 by mistake, so if it works as expected I'll send you the spare to get you started if you want Ross.
I'll report back once I find time to fit it.

Not much, £140 for the sub, and £15 for the harness. I've not gone crazy with some Drum 'n' Bass monster, just enough to add balance at 300W

Great - look forward to hearing how you get on with it!The hardest part was finding the specific loom connector as I don't want to splice anything. I finally found a Korean spares site that had them. Yes I agree it’s certainly detailed and clear.
I think there’s something wonky about the balance, the rear speakers seem way too quiet and the rear sub I can’t hear at all.
I don’t know if it’s a setting (that you can’t change) or the rear amp is just underpowered but even moving the front rear fader around can’t compensate. Is yours like that as well?
I’ve got a sound meter (for track days) so I’ll measure it all when I have time. I might then ask the dealer to look at it.
I think the sub swill help though

There’s some stuff on the kiaevforums. Apparently if you push the sound too far to the rear it mutes them - some say it’s a bug! You can push it to the bottom of the circle and that seems about right.
That's interesting - wonder if the GV60 is also affected...?Passengers recently commented that they didn't think any sound was coming from the rear speakers. I haven't sat back there myself to confirm or deny!

My Hyundai has a "Quiet" mode that reduces the volume for rear passengers. Perhaps that is wrongly enabled on your media setup.I think there’s something wonky about the balance, the rear speakers seem way too quiet and the rear sub I can’t hear at all.

I'm sure the quiet mode is off.
That's all interesting feedback. There's definitely something odd about the way the balance works. There were some issues early on with rear amps blowing, I wonder if they are deliberately protecting it somehow?
Anyway I will do some investigating with my sound meter and the loom for the sub should be here in a couple of days. The new sub is massive compared to the existing Meridien one, and is active of course, so it will be interesting to see what difference it makes.
The sound is fine for radio and talk shows, just a bit weak for music for my taste.
By the way I've discovered that with the KIA RFid card, DC fast charging is only 45p/kWh at BP Pulse compared to 65p at the Porsche dealership (Shell operated). Without the KIA card, 'public' rates at those two are 79p and 85p(!)
45p is not far above my domestic rate, so not bad value for the convenience as it delivers 174kWh if you pre-heat.

Now that's weird!
I installed the latest NAV update (7-12-2022) using a USB stick (for some reason it's not being pushed as an OTA update yet.)
As well as adding ambient sounds from the Squid Game director (!) it has definitely changed the audio software.
I remember that in the Meridian premium page there was an option for three surround presets, called (IIRC) authentic, and two others, together with a custom setting for which you could adjust two parameter, Immersion and imaging.
Now only the custom setting remains. The presets have vanished.
However the sound balance is way better than before and as a consequence I think the bass is also improved.
So it does appear that they have been doing something and that the NAV updates do affect the audio software.
I'm not sure I really need the sub anymore, but I'm going to fit it anyway to see, it should be epic now!
If anyone who hasn't installed this update can check their Sound settings page and confirm that I'm not going mad I would be grateful!
(Apart from the version number, you can tell if you have the latest version as it has the Squid Game ambient sound pack)
