That’s what I thought. What do you think of the sound after the update?

Hard to tell on my journey to work this morning.

It seems like the removal of the surround option isn’t bringing in the most rearward speakers, but I haven’t had chance to test it properly.

In sound settings. The ‘surround’ option has gone.
In the latest GV60 OTA update, "Surround" is not able to be enabled when CarPlay is active.

Might be following the same logic, so check when carplay \ android auto phone is not connected?

Tried a few different tunes on the way home and the sound is definitely improved. Much stronger bass. Sounds like they might be working the front door woofers harder.

Despite the December 2022 Nav update improving the sound I decided to go ahead and fit my powered sub.

I ordered the loom adaptor from Korea spares (shipping takes about 10 days, a 15 amp cigarette lighter adaptor (make sure you get one with thick cables up to taking 15 amps) and a 300W peak subwoofer from Vibe Audio. (https://vibeaudio.co.uk)

Wiring it up is super easy with the loom adaptor and you don't have to splice anything in the car.

It's too big to fit in the cut out, so sits above (you can get smaller ones to go below if you like, but if you remove the existing sub then you can use the space below store your charging cables.

Now theoretically the sub is 20 amps and the cigarette lighter is rated at 15amps, however the fuse in the main fuse box in the drivers footwell for this circuit is actually 20amp and you don't run a sub flat out on full power anyway so I expect it will be fine. You could run a lead to the main 12v battery if you like, but honestly I don't think it is necessary. DYOR though if you decide to fit one of course.

It makes a massive difference, I've got it set just below 50% on the unit, and the EV6 tone control pretty much flat. It adds back that 'thump' that was missing while still maintaining the musicality of the Meridien system, where you can hear the individual bass notes very clearly.

The best sign of a good sound system is to play a familiar track and hear parts that you didn't notice before. You get that with this setup

Overall I'm very happy I fitted it. I haven't bolted it in, it's just sandwiched between the floor and the chase and that seems fine. I've put the strut brace back as presumably that is there for a reason. It's completely removable to return to stock if you want.

The rear utility socket is only on when the car is on and the amp turns off automatically when there is no signal input anyway so it won’t run the battery down.

I drove my EV6 yesterday on the A40/ M40 and noticed that while using the adaptive Cc the HDA indicator came on.the car started changing the speed set according to the actual speed limit and if you indicated it would check the blind spots and if safe change lanes itself!

I’m expecting it to make breakfast and walk the dog this morning ..,

I hope they expand the coverage of this to more roads (currently it’s just motorways and A/M roads I think,)

The only other upgrade I would like is dash cam functionality from the cameras, I wonder why they don’t do that?

But now after 2 months I’m still totally bowled over by how great this car is!

Be careful with all the HDA settings enabled - when the HDA believes there to be a reason to slow, it will decrease speed (for example, if it "thinks" a bend shouldn't be taken at motorway speed limit). Less of an issue in UK, but on European 2-laners, it occasionally slowed into motorway bends, which is frustrating and annoying for those behind.
I've disabled the speed management setting in mine so it won't try to manage the speed. It's also enough to manually increase or decrease the speed by 1 mph (or kph) in cruise to temporary disable it, from memory.

Question for the lucky few who have received their cars. What sort of economy are you seeing? Is 200 miles of mixed-driving realistic, as that's about as far as I will ever need to travel round-trip?

I’m getting around 200 currently. I expect 250 might be possible in the summer.

Yes, I'm getting 200 in winter. It seems very predictable so I have no worries running it down to 5% or so as the predicted mileage is very accurate.

The sound system is pretty good after the software upgrade but still lacks any proper bass. So I ordered a sub and the adaptor cable. The sub has just arrived. The build quality seems good and better than I expected, It has a metal case and is pretty heavy. Rated at 150W RMS and 320W peak. Class D amp.

Yes, that's what you need. I ended up putting mine in the boot above the floor as the sound was so much better by the way. It's easily removable if you ever want to put the seats down and carry lots of luggage. It's night and day better. Interested to 'hear' how your Blaupunkt sounds Ross. Will it fit in the existing space?

Yes, I think it will just fit! Only £127. I think it is a discontinued line.

I've taken to using the old recess for charging cables etc, the Sub's much too big. Sounds good though and it confuses the heck out of the dog when he goes in the back!

It seems the CarPlay sound settings are linked to the bluetooth ones. If you set bluetooth to surround then CarPlay is too.

That explains a lot.

My USB socket has suddenly stopped working. Apparently the connector behind is sometimes not clicked in properly and it works loose. I'll get it looked at, I'm sure it's a 5 minute fix, but I don't want to start taking trim panels off in case I break a clip or something on a car under warranty.

Got my Blaupunkt Active Sub installed. Set everything back to the default settings, equaliser to flat and 'authentic' sound. Just cranked the position a little rearwards in the balance settings. Sounds superb. The active sub has brought some actual bass into the mix, and in a good balanced way. Previously felt like I was having to drive the door woofers a bit to hard (by cranking the bass to +10) to get actually get some bass.

Sub settings currently not changed either - all in the middle. Might have a play with those.

Really, really like these.

The salary sacrifice price looks very appealing through Octopus.

For electric cars, I was only interested in a Porsche Taycan, but seeing one of my client's EV6 GTs in Copenhagen has definitely peaked my interest in these.

There are quite a few good videos, but forgiving this one's from the USA I like it. https://youtu.be/KdeIo5y0hVE
