Tesla's vertical integration can make them very much a hit or miss depending on how lucky you are. If you're planning on regularly charging away from home the Supercharger network is *still* a massive selling point. What's the back seat of a Y like for 3 bigger kids? Just from having a nose round one it looked a bit tight for my brood, otherwise they tick all the boxes except in the looks department as a family car.
It feels as big as my old E class, but has no transmission tunnel getting in the way. The BMW i5 should end up being a cracking electric car. Rumour has is that an i5 Touring is on the pipeline for 2024 release. A BMW i5 touring would have been the perfect family EV for me, but I am not able to wait until maybe 2025, when the car may be delivered to people who order them at the time of release. Consequently I have purchased a MY23 I-Pace which I am collecting in a month’s time. I believe the I-Pace will function very well for my family of three and our Golden Retriever.

I have had my ipace for nearly 2 years. They are fabulous vehicles. However, I am not sure how the sloping rear would work with a largish dog - I haven't tried taking our lab anywhere in it. Presumably you will take the parcel shelf out? RobbyJ said:

Big enough and airy with the pano roof (standard) We comfortably have two labs in the boot. It’s huge
Doesn’t stir your loins but having tried the E-tron the Tesla is such a better package and understands it’s role. The Audi has negligible storage space and high boot sill in comparison
Loved the Taycan CT, but long lead times, twice the price and perhaps a bit to flash to arrive to meetings in.

Sorry. I missed this. Yes, exactly like that. I need a copy of the sun from 2 days ago and a ginsters sausage roll wrapper on the dash.

You're forgetting it can be argued it's the ugliest car currently on sale. Utterly hideous creation.
Saw one recently on the motorway a brute of a thing. Treading lightly on the earth it does not. Those enormous wheels....You're forgetting it can be argued it's the ugliest car currently on sale. Utterly hideous creation.
Yes I drive a MK1 Leaf and it is pig ugly.
If the looks of the iX and chintzy interior are an issue the facelift eTron SUV is due later this year/early 2023, and I can confirm it will happily swallow 5 adults (3 of which are 6ft+) and enough luggage for a 10 day holiday in Greece as has just managed to do exacty that for us.
In S trim it'll crack 60 in < 4 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 12.5 so more than enough performance for the road.

Sanity check: Cancelled my EV6 GT order and switched to a regular AWD model. No-one needs a daily car that can crack 4 secs 0-60. I can't think of a time in the past 6 months where I would have been able to deploy that sort of power in my daily driving. (And there are better ways to enjoy driving at the weekends which don't involve a kerb weight of over 2 tons.)

Ran a M3P for 2 years and for the vast majority of that time the performance to be a frustrating rather than enjoyable experience. Opportunities to use it are fleeting and require a lot of concentration and forward planning as other road users just aren't calibrated to it. Our current eTron with a 0-60 of around 5 seconds is much better fit performance wise for road use IME.
Also never once took the Tesla out at a weekend just for the fun of driving it, but did lots of demontrations for friends and family. The real fun to be had was watching the reactions of others rather than driving it yourself.

My e-tron lease is ending next year and whilst I've provisionally joined the queue for a Taycan CT I'll look at the facelift / next model with some interest as the current one is an excellent all round family daily. In S trim it'll crack 60 in < 4 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 12.5 so more than enough performance for the road.
Interested in the Greece bit - is that on the boat via Italy?
I'm meant to be driving to Athens in November but need to take the Balkan route and as far as I can tell there's very little charging past Zagreb. (i drove to Southern Serbia and back last month in my petrol car so have some idea of the landscape)

Sorry. I should have said it managed to transport 5 + luggage to the airport and back in comfort. Interested in the Greece bit - is that on the boat via Italy?

Not brave enough to even attempt to drive it that kind of distance, our usage is very much local + the odd 250 mile trip. Good luck though.
