Following on from the 'whos getting an i3 thread' I though this probably warranted a thread of it's own.

I have been driving sensibly today. I also reset the journey computer - as advised by BMWi but not convinced it makes any difference.

So, I've averaged 5.2mi/kwh today. Got home, fully charged it and its still showing just 67 miles!!

Arrgghhh!

Surely it should be nearer 98 miles??? 18.8 x 5.2? Maybe my battery isn't holding a full charge?

We know the range indicator can be a bit flakey. Why not try a really low speed journey to see what your car will do? Wasn't your 80 mile trip including a bit of motorway? One REx owner who'd done over 100 miles posted his trip computer screen and his average speed was just 28mph, I think this is true for the majority of these big mileages that some owners are telling us about. They are prepared to drive a lot slower than we are used to :/

Are you monitoring how much electricity you consume when charging?

Mine equates to 21.8kwh on average for a full charge (16% charging losses). E.g. last night I charged from 21% SoC and consumed 17.0kwh. That might give you an indication of how much charge your battery is holding?

I've got a 70 mile trip this afternoon so I am going to drive slowly and hope I get home!

When you did your 5.2 mi/kwh journey, how far did you go and what percentage of your charge did you use?

eta my range was showing as 70 miles this morning, but I did 58 miles and had 42% charge left at the end (i.e. projected range of 100 miles). My driving efficiency is fairly consistent, so it's clear that the projected range at full charge is very conservative.

I did 22 miles. Didn't check the exact charge level but it was more than 75%

Nope just battery. I think in ecopro+ I've seen 90> once. It certainly drops quickly initially as the heating system kicks in then when this throttles back the range can sometimes increase...

I'm not driving it at the moment Lisa is but it will become my daily drive when the kids break up so I'll report properly then.

Results of my return trip from home to Leek driven nice and gently.

Eco Pro+ all the way
59 miles driven
Remaining charge 48%
Avg consumption 5.7m/kWh

Not too shabby really. I'll stop moaning now and it's back to foot to the floor motoring!

Just saw your FB post. You've turned into one of them. You'll be bragging and posting about how much shopping you can get in the back next frown

Eeking out the range is a great game smile

I did have to do this because for some reason the car didn't charge overnight (more irritating that it then used the batteries to condition the car for departure !!) --- used Eco Pro + ad got five stars for all but acceleration, and saw efficiency of 100% ??

Is this a reactive scale to encourage ??

For some reason I am also seeing a much higher recovered energy due to anticipation than the average ??

All i know is that that was too effing close, biggrin

Has anyone gone past zero miles? does the vehicle just stop (as told by my bmw igenius) or does it have some built in extra capacity like every 'normal' car out there?
