We drove up to Rouen and stopped over night as is now traditional ... no speed traps up the N138 etc that we cam across other than some bike cops with bino's ...

We commented that this year is the very lowest level of plod we have seen in 3 years ...

We had one car sent a different route to us who went via the D roads and was well ahead of us into Rouen and they only saw 1 speed trap as well.

Fed up with the new peage queue so going that way next year.

These were absolutely 100% just bino's ... them just parked up having a chat ...

Definitely were not capable of registering speed at all ...

we got pulled on the toll road (A11?) that comes in from paris on the way down thursday afternoon

my mate (both of us in 996's, mine had a big orange stripe on it) was lasered at 197 kph (approx 125mph) and me behind didnt - he was then escorted to the next services where he was relieved of 375 euros and his driving licence - his passenger had to drive for the rest of the weekend!

thanks to the route home where we saw no plod (alencon - rouon - calais ) his passenger has now driven his car faster than he ever has which was amusing! we were in excess of 175 for a few miles - it was great

cheers
Paul

Just got back now after my first (but definately not last) Le Mans.

We left at 6.30 this motning and had a great run back, no fuss at all.

Best run was on the way down on the Peage section coming into Le Mans late Friday afternoon. We had 2 Elises and were running with a 911 GT3, an Ultima, a couple of 911 Cabrio's and an M3. Perfect weather, light traffic, fast speed and not a rozzer to be seen anywhere.

Saw a Porsche get pulled on the Alencon Peage by "Le CHiPs"

Also saw a Cerbie get pulled north of Bolougne.

Haven't been since 2002, there were no Police traps when I went back then.

I was watched by two bike cops doing 100 in an 80 and they didn't do anything. Maybe I just got lucky, or maybe they don't get out of bed for less than 750 euros and a license.

The people I saw getting stopped on the 1 lane road near lemans (n138?) were all complete tts overtaking on solid lines. If you are going to be that dumb, its hard to find sympathy!

161kph on the way back to Calais. Just after a service atation. Cops were dead nice, then a Lambo roared past and their radios screamed at them. €90, off you go. Only second trap we saw all weekend.

I think those were the ones who didn't bother pulling me in despite definitely staring at the car as I went past. I was doing 160 kph (100mph) indicated too. Wonder why they were merciful.

Was it 2 bikes up the road and then some cop cars in a car park in a layby further up?

Bingo. Only the bikes and us in the layby though. I was doing 185 but needed diesel at that station before. Saw them up on the right hand side of the bridge looking down at me.

Seems like we got hit hard.

Red / White Europa (Houx Annexe roundabout fame) - 750 euro fine plus 50 day ban on license on the way down. Had to get some one else to drive the rest of the way although he did have a sneaky few laps around the roundabout on Sunday night.

Ferrari 360 - on the way back on Sunday another 750 euro fine but luckily no ban !

That was a sh*t-load of speed traps coming back wasn't it?

I must say the French police really have the art of hidden speed traps down to a T!! I can honestly say I drove back adhering to the limit every Km of the way... took ages!

So, anyone unfortunate enough to lose their car this year?

we didn't see any at all the whole way to cherbourg, only ever saw one gendarme and he was heading north as we were heading south on tuesday on our way down!

you must have taken a very different route to us, we went west on the peage to laval then up to avranches and then saint lo then cherbourg, all very good progress indeed

Our route was along 'A' & 'B' roads, via Liseux for a stop off in a B&B.. awesome empty roads, great avg. speed and not much longer than the autoroute in time!

Police in one village at a roundabout but we were wanred and you slow down don't you ??

Saw an Aston headig towards Bolougne doing @ 140mph followed (not very closely) by a police 306dti.. :-). I wonder if the Aston got away with it...

Great F40 passed us on autoroute, dropped a cog and floored it...! Thanks for that, awesome!

Will never do Le Mans again, but driving holiday in France... oh yes!

...yep sure was. 90 euros for 116mph. Cops were very decent, had a sit in the car and a look under the bonnet and led me back to the motorway.

Shame it's not like that here.

Lots of gendarmes on the way back. I was in the queue when a French car decided to overtake me on a solid white line and promptly got a pull from le plod who were about half a mile up the road with their binos out. Gave me a chuckle anyway.

Set off a static speed camera on the way down, was following an Integra when we came across this funny black box thing at the side of the road. It flashed just as the Integra was passing. Assumed that was it flashing at me when it went off again just as I passed it. Blinding white flash at point blank range into your eyes can be a tad disconcerting.

Im hoping that was us that you saw being pulled.

While some of our number were making donations to the local Champagne fund, we stopped had a picnic, put our tents up, had a doze, and packed up again before those we had overtaken came past.

We looked closely for the Skegness over 80's motorized scooter club but it was dark by the time we were passed :-))

I had a chat with the policeman; he was complaining about the lack of any traffic after he had pulled us in......

...now I know why.

There were 2 speed traps on the A26/E15 between Lens & Calais. We went through the 1st doing about 110mph. Got to the peage and the gendames walked out from their van, my heart stopped, and then we pulled away and they let us through. They then pulled over some guy behind me in a BMW 645i Cab. Can't believe that we got away with it.
