Best thing I've heard all day. She'd make mincemeat of him!

Can I watch?

I'm with Mungo here, 1000%

For me problems with women have spoiled my last two Le Mans. I would sacrifce going myself rather than take my Mrs. She would hate it anyway! It's my weekend away for one time of the year and it's sacrosanct. For me the only blokes who take their Mrs do so because they aren't allowed to go alone and they aren't trusted. As always there are exceptions (like Rudegirl) but they should remain exactly that. No woman will ever go in my party.

Don't start me on the subject of paranoia - I could tell you the story of a mate of mine who got the sulky treatment because.....wait for it.......he had the audacity to take a picture of the drivers parade that had two of the hawaiian tropic girls in it!!

Spot on!!!!

Christ! I told my girlfriend she wasn't allowed to come! Told her it was a week away of not washing properly in a dusty campsite drinking beer, eating bbq food and watching loud cars hoon around a track none stop for 24 hours... put her off straight away.

Even so - I had her texting and calling me none stop as she seemed to be sure there were "other women there" that I was "chatting up" - She wasn't even there and she was causing grief - I turned the phone off in the end.

In fact in our LM group we have a strict NO WOMEN ALLOWED rule.

First outing "T" wanted the experience thing!!! probably keep an eye on me as well actually enjoyed the whole lot...
Second time she went was more because a mates other half wanted to go & have company... Enjoyed it again.

Not sure if she will go for the third year

Edited to add: She even found a BY shoe shop next to the beer supply depot

seasider, for sure some women manage to mix ok but most I have found in the last 6 years have been a pain in the arse for one reason or another.

I'm not knocking anyone who does decide to take a female, I just choose not to and have plenty of good reasons for it.

I have only been 4 times to LM. each time with a group of between 12 - 16 blokes. Took the luxuries, refrigerated van, large bbq. At Le Mans bought good supply of fatty meats, water, and beer so no need to leave campsite / track from Wed to Sun. What could go wrong. A COUPLE OF WINGEING BLOKES. Too hot, too cold, bogs smelly, no handrails at sides, barbecue too smokey, too noisy, too dangerous, etc. etc. Each time they were not invited for the next year. They sent their seperated at birth twins!!!! I admit we could knock them down or burn their tents and their belongings to shut them up.
I would not hit a woman first and so far not until sixth when my jaw broke (not at LM). I have not done it since, I run first. Anyway my point is treat all people equal, as long as they know, really know what they are going to, what the hell. Saying that I would never take my wife, she hates motorsport but we have agreed that, if we start doing the lottery, and win, we will spend 1 year follow LMES and ALMS and some of F1, although she will very seldom visit the tracks. Horses for courses!!!!!!
PS I will not stop going, wingeing people of either sex do not deter me!!!!!!

I believe there was at least one wandering around being chased with a hose pipe. That's life in LM campsites for you

Not read the whole thread here, but I made the decision today that I am going to Le Mans next year which bought me onto the Girlfreind issue and how to break it to her.....

Initial thought was to invite her but that was instantly over ruled - by myself - she likes her sleep too much and if I invited her she wouldn't want to camp which in my eyes is half the point of going!

So I will sit her down tonight tell her the news that I have decided to buy a new kitchen for the house then drop in "oh and by the way I'm going to Lemans next year!".

If I'm still alive tomorrow I'll let you know how I get on

I wouldn't be too smug yet. If they moan and complain the whole time you're there you might live to regret it. Paying for the ferry might have been cheap by comparison!!!

Owing to past experiences we've become VERY selective about who we invite to join us!!!
