So we are taking the autoroutes all the way down on Thursday - would like to divert off south of Rouen and stop for lunch etc - any recommendations - looking for somewhere 30mins or so off the main drag?

TIA

After rouen use the old road, so come off just after the robert the diable castle on the right and use the old n138, plenty of places to stop and almost as quick, plus considerably less mileage and no tolls. we stop at a supermarket at bernay, has a great cafe that does horse if you like it and massive pizza's, also the supermarket has not been cleaned out of the stuff you want unlike most of those in lemans

After leaving Rouen and eventually getting on to the old N138, now the D438, almost immediately you will start to go down hill. Near the bottom of the hill is a track going off to the right. Take that track and you find this:

Traiteur au Rendez-Vous d'Chasse Restaurant
Gare de La Londe
76500 South of Rouen
France

I don't think they have a website.

It's right by a railway track but that's seldom used.

You'll find lots of Brits there having lunch, so you need to book.

Good luck!

Head for the village of Lyons La Foret, Hotel Du Cerf if you want a lovely meal , any of the others in the very pretty square for more basic grub.
