Late afternoon on Sunday there was a very nasty accident with an old red Porsche (possibly a speedster) and a silver hatchback, the people in the hatchback all walked away thanks to airbags etc but the lad in the porker was in a very bad way, he had to be cut out infact! I couldn't bring myself to go and look but from what others said it was very serious, apparently his face took the full force as he wasn't wearing a seatbelt. I was wondering if anyone knows him and has any news his condition, I hope he pulls through and tell him all the best!

My friend saw the car bomb down the road and said they were giving it some real welly but he did not see the actual impact. I saw the aftermath, chaps were still in the car and on drips and neck braces but to be honest did not look to be in too bad shape, certainly both were concious - my initial thoughts were just that they were dazed and in big time shock. Overheard a conversation today that mentioned possible broken neck however so could be far more serious but then should imagine it was just heresay.

Hope all are ok, certainly glad the person in the other car was ok as looks like she may have been an innocent party.

As soon as I got my 1949 Bentley, I fitted seat belts, it's not original, but it's safer.

I guess those early 356's dont have belts either.

Remember James Dean.

There were two people in the VW and it appeared that the passenger
took the brunt of the impact. I was 100 yds away in Houx and there
was a sickening thud from the impact. I also hope that the occupants
are ok although I have to say that I think it was a very serious
accident. The passenger had very serious facial injuries and it took
about an hour to get him out of the car suggesting that there were
other complications.

The french car, a citroen I think, had white ribbons tied to the rear
windscreen wiper, they do this when they've been to a wedding don't
they?

So was it a seatbeltless classic that hit a modern VW, or two moderns colliding, just that they werent wearing seat belts?

did look pretty bad.... the other car was a renault megane scenic (correct me if im wrong) i think.

apparently had just returned from a wedding and were stopping in to see some of the race. She pulled out in front of the speeding (porsche spyder?) and the story unfolds from there. Not nice at all.

Wish them a well recovery.

Didn't see much of passenger's face but I was on drivers side so that maybe works out, damage to their car was primarily to that side so it would figure that he was the worse off of the two - I think someone there mentioned that there was fibreglass shards on the road and cracks in the bodywork so guess we are talking kit replica here not full on classic but god knows what the donor car may have been or what safety parts were carried over (or indeed in use at the time). Other car was a Citroen Picasso and initially looked in a far worse way, of course the front area had in fact collapsed just as it should have done and the passenger cell was fully intact and the airbags had deployed.

If I could just say that before mentioning anything about the GB
car speeding please only do so if you were any eye witness and even
then have a think. There were people going around saying this but
it wasn't clear what the source of the information was. The french
vehicle must have pulled out and been on the junction or the
accident would not have happened.

Let's hope that the guys are ok and everyone else gets back ok.

Saw the aftermath, not pretty.

Red 356 speedster and a silver Citroen xsara picasso. One of the guys in the Porsche looked in really bad shape.

Really hope all involved are OK.

this is very sad and I hope all involved recover OK - we were on our way back in when we got turned around at the accident ..>I think the Speedster may have been the one near our campsite as it wasnt there for the remainder of the time...If it was it had a Z cars busa conversion and had attracted a lot of attention over the weekend..

I was there too but didn't actually see the accident happen so can't comment. This accident stopped us getting back into our campsite (Houx Annex) so we had a nice trip going through all the other sites to get back!
Hope the guys in the red speedster recover fully but to be totally honest i'm amazed there are not more accidents like this or worse! It just gets more crazy every year.

One of my friends ended up doing some of the English-French translation for the French Police - Also helped a mate of the injured driver fill in some forms etc.

My understanding from talking my friend afterwards was that the injured passenger was the owner of the speedster whilst the driver was someone who had taken it out on a test drive.

If the above is true and the driver of the speedster was at fault he could be in serious trouble once he is out of hospital.

Echo that. As I said earlier, from my side of the road it did not appear that either were in too bad a way, but certainly sounds like there was more injury to the passenger than I was aware of. Horrible situation for all involved if this turns out to be the case.

Hi everybody, first time message i`m afraid but i`m surfing the net trying to find out about this guy.The owner of this car was staying about 100yds from my pitch next to Airtrack camping.
It was indeed powered by a Hyabusa engine and I had a brief chat with the owner about it on saturday .we drove past the scene of the accident when the emergency services where there so can provide no further info into the crash.we all felt extremley saddened by the incident and would welcome any further news
