Has anyone spoke to Leasing companies about getting out of leases mid-term due to Wage/Job issues and Coronavirus? Or are any leasing companies suspending payments for the foreseeable?
Surely the companies will have to give payment holidays or there’s going to be a lot of unpaid lease returns when all is over. . I guess many are already stretched before leasing their dream, paying for it will be the last priority for some. Will this be the end of the private leasing bubble , if this lockdown is to be a regular occurrence I guess it will have to be taken into account.
( Writing as one who only last week collected a new lease, but luckily not overstretched atm. )

They have said you can cancel at no cost as not contracted until delivery - but I think there's almost no chance of a new car being delivered by April 1.
said to me earliest that they can communicate a delivery is Tues 14th April if you believe the 3 weeks measures will be over by then......this will run and run...
So Mannheim contacted me to advise they are not undertaking any further collections of V90 until the current circumstances change. Someone will be in touch.
Spoke to Santander who advised they will pay insurance and give a £25 voucher. Also settle any further expenses for me to keep the car until collection but do not use it.
Sorry but the car is then my risk for a £25 voucher? No thanks. Awaiting callback!

Obviously not the biggest issue going on but where do we stand with servicing, warrenty and leasing etc? My s4 is on lease and due for it's first oil change in a few days and it's booked in for next Friday, can't see that happening now, and it's obviously going to be over due by quite alot by the time they re open, don't want to get billed for failing to service it correctly when it goes back in September

Where’s the risk to you if they’re paying the insurance and you’re not using it? Spoke to Santander who advised they will pay insurance and give a £25 voucher. Also settle any further expenses for me to keep the car until collection but do not use it.

My delivery, scheduled for Thursday, has been cancelled. Unfortunately my previous lease has already been collected, so I’m high and dry! Still need to get to work somehow, as I’m a key worker, have a 70 mile round trip commute and work shifts so can’t use public transport.
Hertz are renting cars cheap to some - see details in the main ‘deal’ thread.Actus Reus said:

I spoke to Mannheim and they cancelled our Peugeot collection, understandably. They said Free2Move (PSA) will be in touch. Rang Free2Move and they said Mannheim will be in touch..... confusion!Spoke to Santander who advised they will pay insurance and give a £25 voucher. I'm quite please I managed to cancel my new lease just over a week ago for a replacement A4 Avant, my current Avant is booked for collection mid April, hopefully by then the Outlook might be brighter.
I bought a shed in the meantime but will likely stick with it for the foreseeable future provided it stays reliable.
I hope you all get your vehicles sorted in this uncertain time!

Wife's new lease (via Zen) was due tomorrow but got cancelled today.
Her current car is due to be collected by BCA on 9th April, so who knows what will happen!
I had swapped the insurance to the new car and kept the old one as temporary cover, but should probably swap back as I don't really want to be insuring a car when we don't have it.

It's all a bit confusing really.
My wife sold her Alhambra to the supllying main dealer of a Kodiaq 2 weeks ago, they were supposed to deli er before the end of the month. They rang on Monday to say delivery was off and had no idea when it would be back on, bit of a bugger as the PCP on the Seat is up next week and it's way over mileage so it's get rid or pay up.... Though by the sound of it they wouldn't collect it anyway..
It's an in stock car and they are taking the old one so as its straight swap I asked if it could be collected, this was Tuesday AM post lock down announcement. Dealer said they were closing generally Wed PM but staying open by appointment only to get ordered cars etc out if they could. They're doing all. Paperwork remotely and only having 1 customer and 1 of the dealership staff in at a time, sanitised keys etc.
All sounds pretty sensible but it's a 200 mile solo trip, I reckon that can be done in one hit, or at worst one quick toilet stop. Risk profile says basically there isn't one, minor chance of police stop to query journey maybe, who knows... Justification wise she's been a cepted, as have I, as one of the 250k volunteers to drop prescriptions etc off so she kind of needs the car.
Still second guessing if it's the right call but what can you do other than try and be sensible about it all.
