Should we have a "lease queries and arguments" thread and just keep this for deals ? its disheartening clicking to see some often asinine comment on a previous none thread relevant comment.

Get the DSG. Everyone I know who has the manual has come to kick themselves over it wink
If I was buying the car, then I'd go for DSG. I don't think I'd buy a Golf-R though, and certainly not a new one.

This is just a 2 year lease car, so the extra £400 for the DSG is a factor - also, this will primarily be used by my girlfriend for ferrying around the new addition to the family - and she doesn't like automatics, so it's better that it's manual smile

The budget I had in mind was £250/month, so I'm already spending a little bit more than I wanted, but I felt that the Golf-R was such a step up from everything else on offer, including the Seat - that I was willing to stretch another 10% for it.

Shouldn't this thread focus more on the actual deals then discussions relating to cars, I'm trawling through pages and not seeing actual deals available posts anymore

If you want pure lease deals go on Hot Deals UK or something like that. While this thread is primarily about the deals, it follows that their will be discussion on those deals and the cars on offer. When the Jeep deal dropped for example, hardly anybody even knew the Jeep existed - discussion about its relative merits was inevitable.

As a compromise, I think it would be helpful if people adopted a standard of using Bold to highlight they are posting a deal. For example:

Deal

Found this deal guys....what do you think...yadda-yadda

<<<LINK>>

That way people can scroll quickly down a page and their eye will only pick out posts with deals in them.

There is too much discussion and general consensus is to keep it to deals. If the forum page fills and there is no 'deal', it's time to stop discussing.

VAG group contains the following brands...
Bugatti >> Bentley >> Lamborghini >>PORSCHE >> AUDI >> VW >> SEAT >> SKODA

each has their own market sector...and price points.

So in terms of standard of finish, quality of materials, i would say flow like this....
PORSCHE >> AUDI >> VW >> SEAT >> SKODA

Top end market, i dont have any experience of, so can't comment.
Not sure I agree with that, IMHO Audi and VW are very close and hard to call between them. But Skoda is a massive step ahead of Seat and to be honest not far behind Audi /VW
Yeah, that ^^

Years ago I would have put Seat marginally ahead of Skoda. But recent Skoda models are hot on the heels of the VW/Audi models.... Seat less so.

Who decides what gets posted in a thread on a public forum?

Those who are complaining about chat, have you actually done any research and shared/posted deals up yourself? If not then just be grateful someone else has done the hard work for you.... oh noes you had to scroll through a couple of pages of chat.... unless you are on dial up it isn't a hardship.

Try THIS instead of complaining.

Irony - I think there is too much discussion in this thread. Discuss. hehe

There have been a few lease 'discussion' threads pop up over the past couple of years that have been resigned to the depths of PH which were supposed to keep this thread clean.

It doesn't work because this is the natural way this thread keeps developing, everyone needs to just adapt to it.

If a lease deal is posted, it's generally posted with the link which shows up as underlined and the font is blue... it takes a couple of seconds to scan for them.

Ironically, I find that there is too much discussion on the topic of 'too much discussion'. smile

Am I missing something?

No VAT : 189.99*23=4369.77
+ 2279.92
+199.99
= 6649.69
/24 = 277.07

with VAT: 227.99*23=5243.77
+ 2735.90
+ 239.98 = 821965
/24 = 342.48

Who are you to tell people to stop discussing things, on a public forum? You get 'excited' when you see the thread on the front page, then disheartened when it's people debating over deals or cars...get a life. Seriously, not in the "I have no retort so I'll tell you to get a life to embarrass you" way, I mean seriously, get a life.

If you actually get annoyed/disheartened/let down when a lease deal thread is somebody asking for advice or opinions on a deal, you're missing something in your life. And a Tiguan 10,000 p/a deal isn't going to fill that void. No matter if it's £7 per month cheaper than it was in July.

That's the whole point of pistonheads. Car enthusiasts sharing opinions. I have been close to ordering several lease deals, then a discussion ensues and current owners point out issues with the car and I decide not to. This is exactly why I signed up here. I can go onto contracthireandleasing myself and compare deals. I want input from people with more knowledge on a product than myself.

If you're so concerned about the deals to posts ratio, post a deal yourself, rather than waiting for somebody else to do the leg work for you. As was previously mentioned, either go to google or HUKD if you want pure deals. This is a forum, which by definition is 'a meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.'

Now stop being so bloody pedantic, put the kettle on, take a breath and relax.

24 months, 10,000 miles, 6 months down (which admittedly increases the monthly cost, if that's how you do it) - £304.

Once you add a few bits and pieces - B&O stereo, roof bars and dimming mirrors, it creeps up.

Almost right.

£285 per month averaged out on business.

£342 per month averaged out on personal.
