Aren't they normally collected from a dealer or delivered on a flatbed?
Not necessary. My SLK came on wheels from Leeds to London and had 209 miles on the clock. No option of personal collection.
Think it depends on the supplying dealer. My M135i came from Dick Lovett Bristol (stop sniggering) on a flatbed as they were delivering two the same day. Mine had 4 miles on the clock when it arrived. Still remember that day very fondly!

My £80k SL was driven from Brighton to Dundee...car probably lost £5k on the transportation alone smile

Those M4 deals are looking cheap, sales are obviously poor......
Would an M4 lose £25k over 3 years and 24k miles?

Thats how much the deal is overall. Seems expensive to me!
When you put it like that I'd agree. 3 Year old V8 M3's start at £28k in the classifieds with 40-50k on the clock.
I agree as well,if you had two 3 year lease deals at 25k each that is about the price of a new one 50k with no car or money at the end of the 6 years.

I know you have to have the money or a loan to buy a new one but it will still be worth a fair chunk of money in 6 years time.

Saying that probably 90% of M4 leases are company ones so does not cost anything for the employee apart from taxes and the other 10% that are personal lease the people probably have enough money not to care.

There is a German guy who lives near me,has a hairdressing business and has a M4 on lease.

His name is Herr Cut.hehe

For an M4 with fuel benefit for someone on £70k (probably realistic if they are getting an M4 company car) the BIK tax is £892.16 a month!

Even without fuel its £649.05 a month yikes

I looked at a 640d Gran Coupe on a business lease but once I found out the BIK it killed it dead. The tax was more than the car would have cost!

In other words, the two cars you bought would have lost about the price of one new one, especially if you add in interest (spent or lost on savings) and the fact that you'd probably be trading in rather than selling privately for the advertised cost.

I know you have to calculate the depreciation but it shouldn't come as a surprise that new cars depreciate.

(NB that isn't an endorsement for this deal, but the fact that a car that is bought retains *some* value isn't an endorsement in itself if you're putting up less money to lease in the first place.)

I wonder how my S8 will be delivered from North to South. If they want to send it on wheels I prefer to collect it in person. But I'm happy to pay resonable amount for transport on flatbed.

FFS, a company car isn't FREE. The driver loses a significant amount of cash allowance as well as increased BIK.
If an M4 costs £650 in TAX the driver is probably giving up another £500 per month income as well.

Oh yeah, an M4 is not a 4.0 V8 DCT.

Nonsense. I have had company cars and have only paid the BIK tax. Company has covered everything else.

If you didn't take the company car wouldn't you have got a cash allowance instead ?
Every company I've worked for has offered the choice of a car or a cash allowance.

But if you opted out the company car scheme, what would your employer pay you? An extra £400 per month? £450? £500? Add that onto your company car/fuel card tax and see how much it costs you per month.

Picking up the 1st S8 tomorrow it arrived last week so will post up images and a review.

For my i didn't care how it was delivered as long as it was inspected when it arrived. Its only a rental at the end of the day...if it were a pcp or similar that would be a different story.

I don't think there will be that many, the dealership I've used only did 4 s8's i think Sytner in London was by far the most productive there...

£598.80 on 6+35 and 8k miles.

Maybe be a better option than the M4 deals mentioned, if the mileage is enough?

Do we have any idea what the excess mileage charges will be?

I know there's not much love for these cars on here, but I'll be signing up for one of these tomorrow -

BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo 330d xDrive M Sport Business Media, metallic paint inc

6000 miles pa, 3+23, £590 +vat then £190+vat a month. Total over 2 years = £6,381.

List price of the car is around £40k and two year old ones with 5-10k on are selling for £26k! Can't see how the deal can work tbh but it all seems legit. I'm also allowed to order and postpone delivery/initial payment until March 2016.

My wife currently pays around the same for a VW Golf mk7 tdi SE that we signed up for direct with a dealer (due for renewal in March) - we only wanted a slightly bigger car and were looking at Tiguans/Xtrails etc but for such a high-spec car I can't just can't ignore that deal. Even if it's not the most attractive thing on the road it'll go like stink. Annoyingly will mean the wife will have a way better daily than me frown

Yes these are crazy cheap. I got a quote yesterday for a 335d xDrive 9+ 23 £186 per month + vat. 8000 miles per year. Heated seats and 19" alloys add about £5 per month each. Pity they are business only, as that slightly complicates things.
