A few pages back there is a ridiculously cheap A6 avant 313 bi-turbo black edition offer which is down as personal, but has a condition that applicants must be entitled to a car/fuel allowance.

Has anybody here applied, and if so what proof was required? I'm starting a new job in a few months and I found out on Friday that I'll be getting a £6250pa car allowance as a perk which I can take as cash. At 40% tax it leaves me with c£315 a month which I would top-up to get this offer, but seeing as offers are strict I want to know of it's as clear cut as it sounds in the app process...

TIA
In answer to your question. I applied for this deal.

Whilst it was personal I was told by Applied leasing that you had to be a Company Director. They also wanted your last six months company bank statement and two years accounts, plus the personal credit check so you had to jump through hoops to get one.

I've also got an A6 BiTDi on order through Applied Leasing on a personal lease deal. All I needed was proof that I got a company car allowance - pay slip, a recent utility bill and 2 months bank statements. Financial approval took a day. Dealt with Mike who was very helpful.

Delivery times are looking long though, could be beginning of next year, could be down to some of the options I ordered but awaiting a confirmed date.

Without wishing to turn this into a company car thread, could you explain my position as I've never had a company car before, and this 'cash' was simply a sweetener on top of the salary, to persuade me to take the job. In short I get the choice of a company car, or I can take the equivalent of £6250pa as a cash alternative which I assume I'll be taxed at my upper rate of 40%?

Given what you say, how do I work out what 'cash' I will have each month to put towards this 'personal' lease if I were to take it out?

Get the car list and find out what car you'd likely take. Go here (comcar.co.uk) and work out how much BIK tax you'd pay for the use of that car. Then add that to the net income you get from the cash they give you.
If you employer does not give you the full approved mileage rate for your business miles then you can also claim tax relief on the difference.

e.g.: If you do 10,000 business miles and your employer only gives you 20p per mile to cover fuel then you can claim tax relief on:

(45p - 20p) x 10,000 = £2,500 which if your tax rate is 40% is worth £1,000 p.a. or £83 per month.

(45p is the HMRC approved mileage rate for up to 10k miles)

Interesting especially as the presentation and reporter didn't just state they should simply be business rate plus VAT or actually go into why a personal contract lease was a higher price than a business like for like.

E300 Hybrid has the money thrown at it this quarter.
We just took delivery of one. A very good deal direct with MB so no broker fees (sorry Siovey!) they also made a cock up so we got another £10 off per month.
I haven't driven it yet but mpg is apparently worse than the c250 it replaced at under 50mpg. 69mpg is claimed.

No probs mate, if they've beaten the Merc Corporate price then it must be a cracking deal!! We're still waiting for the new pricing matrix to come from them this month so currently have no deals to offer. Well, none that exist anyway! (which should be the same as everyone else. However.....)

I've got one on order with Mike from Applied Leasing and I'm the same as Worzel, accounts, proof of ID and a utility bill. They do seem fairly strict with the finance approval but got there in the end. They are also quoting me a long lease time as well, looking like I won't get it until January. On the plus side this may mean that I get the 2015 spec although what changes that means is still not clear. Meant to be an impressive car though by all accounts.

No, but I've a question you may be able to answer for me...

Why, every time I get a quote to lease a new M3 (F80) and I go back to the broker to order it, they tell me that the price has now gone up?
Four times it's happened in the last week or so.

Bloody annoying, I tell you.

That's frustrating, although it probably is for the salesman too!
It's either
1) they could never supply at the price they quoted originally and hoped you would add lots of extras so they could bump the price up for their margins
2) they made a mistake uploading the price (you'll be amazed how often this happens!) - this could also be used as an excuse for number 1
3) RV change at the end of a quarter and the funder won't honour the old one - bloody annoying this!
4) The terms have changed on the car for the new quarter, and wont be honoured by BMW
5) they might have had a few either in stock or previously "bought" to sell, but by the time your order was processed they had all gone

There could be other reasons but they are the most likely. 4 times is taking the p*ss though! I'm embarrassed if I get it wrong once!
Good luck! thumbup

Thanks for the reply Simon.

One of the brokers did say he was particularly embarrassed by it!
Also mentioned something about BMW pulling what discount they had.

Can't quite believe I can lease an M5 for less, but it's just a bit too big unfortunately.

Back to the drawing board. I'd love an S6 but there doesn't ever seem to be any good deals on high performance petrol Audis frown
