My business partner is looking to change his car. His first choice is a Discovery Sport to replace his current Freelander. We are considering leasing rather than the outright purchase that we did with the Freelander. Is anyone aware of any decent deals? He would also possibly consider a Q5 or another Freelander. The deals I have found all seem to be rather expensive.

All 5 door, all tornado red. 2 with DSG, 1 manual. It's just too good of a deal!

I'm hoping as we ordered them together they'll get sequential plates which would make for quite an amusing photo opportunity smile
i don't think sequential plates exist really any more sadly!
There is a couple down my road with an SL and an ML and their new plates are sequential; along the lines if XX64ABC and XX64DEF. Could just be a fluke/they threw money at it, their last cars were a C63 and an E63.
they must have purchased them. As the last 3 letters are random, if my maths is correct the chances of that happening by chance are 1/19770609664)
They are not random, company cars at work that are leased are often consecutive or very close.

stuff like this gets asked a lot. It's either the specific car he's after, OR a good deal. If you've got a specific car in mind at a specific time, rarely will that be the cheap thing du jour. Always worth an ask i suppose, but no I've not seen anything, and big 4x4 are rarely pushed into the 'ooo that's cheap' zone.

definitely said random on wikipedia. I guess what it actually means then is 'meaningless' then, unless the sales admin at the registering deal had OCD and went paging through.

Who is the poor relation with the manual then wink
He'll be quite easy to spot... he'll be the one with the biggest smile on his face wink
hehe
laugh He is missing out a bit and needs a bit of manual in his life. Currently he has 2 cars both auto. Me and my other brother have an old-skool manual turbo in the form of tuned up Audi S2 Quattro and an RS2, so we get our fixes elsewhere wink

Me and my brother currently have identical looking cars that are sequential. The last 3 digits are not random - we were offered a choice when we bought the cars, he went XX12NKA i went NKC. I wish i could explain why openly hehe

I reckon you would be best to buy it, think they will hold their value very well, so although it may cost more on paper, come resale you should be quids in.

Look at how well the Evoque did in the first two years.

£2k down, £349 a month with 8k miles a year.

Ask Scott to ask the the dealer to do this. When they are registering car, the dealer will have 20 or so registrations in chronological order with just 1 letter of the last 3 different.

Signed the £2200 + 23x £180pcm +VAT for the Golf R 5dr DSG deal... still available for anyone on the edge hehe

It's £150pcm for manual, +£30pcm for DSG, +£21pcm if you can't live with Tornado Red.

Delivery not until Feb/March 2015, but that coincides perfectly with the termination of my current deal.
Just signed up for exactly the same. Was tempted to go non-red but what the heck.

I see a blue one on my way to the station in the mornings. Very nice!

Yeah this was my thought also... i'm really not a fan of red, but told myself i could only have 1 option... metallic paint or DSG.

Circa 15% of the monthly payment is a lot for paint. On that basis I went with red and no options. After all it's not like you have to give a st about re-sale, it's purely aesthetics. On PCP it never seems to affect the price as it boosts the residuals slightly.

I can't believe how cheap these Golf R deals are still - some of the offers on Freedom Contracts are nuts.

I'm one of those wkers that has a private plate so I'm not 100% sure, but I think I remember my sister being offered a choice when she got her new company car.

When i bought my fireblade this year, the salesman opened up a book of handwritten number plates. Signatures next to them. I had a choice of those without a signature. Some were sequential.

Nuts I agree - which is why I went red - start ticking options boxes and the whole deal starts losing its bargain factor.

Mine is the manual order in Sonic's trio. This 'poor relation' has had automatic diesels for a good few years so cut some slack guys!

Depends on the dealer - I bought a new car a couple of years ago from Arnold Clark and they would only slap a random registration on it and not let me choose from X available ones. Fits in with the whole "pile 'em high, sell 'em cheap" model I guess, no frills.

That was me, just poking a bit of fun smile I've just enquired myself, these are too cheap to ignore. I'll be adding metallic paint rather than DSG I think, my Merc is auto and I fancy going back to my youth with a manual hehe

I usually run cars around the shed budget but every now and again I toy with the idea of leasing something dirt cheap. Last time I did the maths it worked out around £40 a month more expensive to run a brand new Skoda Citigo than my Shed E46 318.

Basically I am after the lease car with the cheapest monthly payment per month and with the smallest deposit. Can we have the actual monthly cost, not "it's only £99 a month! (With a £3K deposit)" So far the cheapest deals I have found so far have been a Skoda Citigo and a Fiat Panda for £109 a month with a £109 deposit.

I do 10K miles a year and bonus points for free servicing (The skoda deal comes with this) and cheap road tax.

Can anybody find a cheaper way to run a brand new car than leasing a Skoda Citigo?
