I have a Seat Leon lease expiring in around 11 months time. Normally I'd hand it back and get a new one but I'm going to only need a car for 1 more year after that before moving abroad. Is it possible to extend a lease or to lease a car for 1 year?
There are Peugeot 208's, Citroen's and Honda Civics available for 1+11/3+11 that work out at £130 per month that might be worth looking at.

I'm totally new to leasing.

What are people's experiences with VehicleSavers?

Do leasing companies typically move on their website prices? Is going direct to a dealer worth trying (will they price match a lease website)?

Currently I'm looking for a cheap (sub £150pm) for the wife to do sub 6,000 miles.
There's always room for negotiation, just depends how much they want the sale really. I've always got discounts on options which has suited me.

Don't fall for the dealer comfort blanket, there isn't one! Dealers are set up for retail = PCP and HP etc, leasing is usually a back office corporate sales function (even for private leases) so many dealers showroom staff will either lie and tell you they don't do leases or try their best to talk you out of it. Just avoid the sales BS and deal with a broker / lease co. If its just a price match then I'd still go for the lease co. to avoid dealing with w##kers at a dealerships, unless dealer gives a better deal.

Most lease co. deals are actually with the manufacturers finance firms anyway, just via a back door at a better deal. So go to 123lease for a VW and you get a car on VW finance from VW when VW wouldn't do it if you walked in. Same for BMW, merc etc..

Remember all cars have to come from main dealers in the end, the only difference is whether the lease co. obtains it for you at a better price than you can get. Whichever you will take delivery from a dealer just like any other buyer.

Any issues with the car and it is with the manufacturer, just like any other car regardless of how / who it was purchased via. No dealer gives a toss about how / who bought the car when it comes to warranty work / servicing etc.

Looking for some help on this one...

About to move to a new job and have a company car at the moment (Focus) - I'm looking for something with enough space and doors to accommodate our first child on the way and split between leasing or buying something to put me on as the lease deals don't seem all that great at the moment.

Any ideas or suggestions on something preferably diesel, 5 doors, decent marque and somewhere around £250 (or less) amortised over the term?

I'm looking for a thread where I can find the best leasing questions?

Can anyone point me to it?

I must admit to being new to the internet and don't understand the concept of reading threads.

Thanks

Hello PH'ers, lurker turned poster here

For my first ever lease (and first ever new car) I fancy a sporty VAG product with DSG (ooh-err), i.e. Golf GTI, Octavia vRS, Leon Cupra etc, but haven't made a decision yet.

Having walked into a VW dealership and asked about leasing I experienced the sort of disinterested/unwelcoming attitude of the sales staff mentioned above.

I'm wondering - you guys who have experience of taking leases in the past - how have you gone about getting test drives before placing your orders?

Cheers!

I was tempted by this, however when I looked at Companies House they were registered at an insolvency office...

I should add that I could just be completely coincidental that they are in the same building.

Is it not more likely that they use their accountants as their registered address, which is very common, and that those accountants also offer insolvency services?

I would like to add that I used them when ordering my Golf R and they were great! no issues at all.

In that case your experience supersedes mine. I stand corrected!

Believe it or not, when a very good deal comes up, the majority don't take a test drive...purely because time is against you. By the time you find a dealership with a demo, book an appointment that suits you etc., the deal's gone.

We're on to our 3rd lease car, none of which we test drove before ordering.

^ this

I ordered a Seat Leon Cupra in September and have never sat in one, let alone driven one.

I considered changing to a Golf GTI with the bargain deal of a couple of weeks ago, but it was gone within hours.

OK, so not a GTD or an R, but am I right in thinking this is still a good deal for PCH?

VW Golf 1.6 TDI 110 GT Edition 5dr
Initial: £2400
Monthly: £86.96
Admin: £180
9+23, 5k miles

All in all, comes to £4580, or £191pm.

As a standalone deal, it's good.

But compare it the Golf GTI deal form 2 weeks ago, then it's not so good.

The 5 door Fiesta ST Line deals were coming in around £3500 for 8k over 2 years for comparison.
