Rather than the Giulia I'd go for the Ghibli:

Or the more potent S:

I’m interested to know what made you pick the Ghible over the Giulia. Have you driven both? The Maserati looks faster in a straight line, but it s it really more engaging?
Good choice, they're not as an engaging steer as the Quadrifoglio but they feel every bit as special bur in a different way, the S is the pick:https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202311184...

Maserati Vs Alfa conversation, surely a major ownership factor is servicing and parts costs?
I'm not sure I'd consider them equivalent.
A Giulia Veloce is not cheap to service, intervals are relatively short (for a simple 4 pot) and the various dealers I experienced were rubbish. I'm not sure I'd consider them equivalent.

Maserati being in the Ferrari stable, I'd assume something like a gearbox, clutch or similar though they are very different ownership costs.James-gbg1e said:

Definitely going to put the M2 at the top of my list as I am not sure there's much else that ticks the same boxes with fairly average running costs and a small element of practicality.

I was waiting for you to come along and suggest a Maserati or Jaguar! Really not my thing.

I'd suggested these & the Stinger on page one of your thread I have to say I'd take the M4 over the M2 to me they're the better package:Definitely going to put the M2 at the top of my list as I am not sure there's much else that ticks the same boxes with fairly average running costs and a small element of practicality.

In reality I'd buy this but appreciate the fuel & tax aren't for everyone:

I am still considering an M4. I do like them a lot but have found there's quite a few compromises to make at my budget. Running costs seem significantly higher too & mixed opinions on the dynamics.https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202404078...

For pure noise, I absolutely love the C63 but they're a bit old hat now & probably a bit expensive to run as you say. They are definitely an option but I feel like for actual 'driving' they're not the last word in dynamics - you buy it for the engine.

I’m not sure your views around private buying but I’d suggest maybe joining the BMW M2 UK Facebook group.
You’ll maybe save yourself a few £k and get a really well looked after car.
Yep - already lined up a car from there and looking at a potential deal on a private sale. Price is on the high side though so I need to negotiate. You’ll maybe save yourself a few £k and get a really well looked after car.
