Can this be beat? And surely gotta be a better deal than the diesel SLKs people seem keen on for general usage. 6.5 0-60, rwd hottish hatch!
Looks on the face of it like a great deal on not a bad car.£180+vat, 6+23, 10k miles

Not really can parable to an SLK - you can't drop the roof on the 1 series to start with and for me personally that was one of my requirements, so you really do need to compare like-for-like.

This will be my second 250 diesel SLK - I too agree with the comments about diesel sports cars and when they first introduced diesel convertible I thought it was the most ridiculous thing. As it happens it really is a good car to drive as a daily driver, very nippy, are not powerful your average daily driving around. I'm lucky, it's not my only car I have 2 other cars (both V8's) in the garage when I really want something interesting to drive so I'm happy to put up with it based on incredibly cheap monthly payments.
I'm on my second diseasel SLK too, I preferred the diesel to drive to the petrol to be honest. Fuel economy on my commute is excellent - never below 60mpg.My previous car was an SL500 and there's not much in it, performance-wise. It falls within any reasonable persons definition of "fast" imo.
Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost 125PS Zetec S 3dr

My brother bought one of these recently, nice little cars, we saw 80 emmpeegee's on the motorway coming home from picking it up.

Just gone for the same with another company, exactly the same deal but with no doc fee. Car to be delivered in February. Getting it in 'deep impact blue' - looks almost like an ST, if you squint a bit.Personal lease, 2 years, 10k pa, £720 down, £120 per month

The comparison of the SL500 and the SLK250 isnt quite fair on the v8 though, theres about 400kg difference! Mums c250cdi and my E500 weigh pretty much the same, mine is noticeably significantly faster.
Not to say the SLK250 is a bad car, and you're only losing some boot space vs. an SL500 really right? Its a good comparison in that respect.

The SLK is 100bhp down on the SL, however it has 40Nm more torque (500Nm Vs 460Nm); no matter what people say on PH, lots of torque is good. 500Nm is a lot for such a small car.The comparison of the SL500 and the SLK250 isnt quite fair on the v8 though, theres about 400kg difference! The cabin space is where you lose out - there's a lot of space behind the seats in an SL. The R172 SLK is, er, "snug" but cosy.

Im by no means saying the SLK is slow, all im saying is for basically the same weight there was an appreciable difference in performance. Lots of torque is good, but the diesel still runs out of puff very quickly, whereas the v8 seems to have the same sort of pull, but it keeps pulling to the redline. The diesel needs a little less stoking to get max performance out of it, which is nice- But lets not turn this into petrol vs. diesel (im firmly in petrol if im honest)The cabin space is where you lose out - there's a lot of space behind the seats in an SL. Back to lease deals! Yep the SLK seems blindingly cheap for the car

Great that's another debate settled, back to lease deals as you suggested.Anyone got any help or advice with choosing a GAP insurance company? It would be useful to have any positive or negative feedback from any of the main companies out there - or that it really not matter who I go with?

Don't get me wrong though, the SLK250 is a great car and I'd happily have one!
