I'm not sending the GTD (flat black) back until September but just wanted to ask people's experience with inspection. I have a couple of scuffed alloys, worst is probably a few millimetres deep and about 15mm long. These are diamond cut so I'm a bit concerned about the cost of fixing them?

My other issue is that I had a scrape on the rear bumper smart repaired and in most lights its absolutely undetectable, however when a good bright sunlight shines on it, you can tell the area is not glossy like the rest of the paint. It's kind of matted/dull. Basically how in-depth are these inspections - does the inspector scan every inch of the car with his eyes a few inches away?

I've also heard some say it's better just to let the car go back as-is and leave it up to them to bill you if they find issues (barring super obvious body damage). Any anecdotes would be hugely appreciated!

Yes i'm also interested, Fiesta ST will be going back next week hopefully and its not perfect by any means! (Couple of alloy edge scrapes (front quite large), front bumper scrape underneath, rear bumper scuff, light water marks on the seats....).
Probably sort the water marks but the others i'm just giving it back as is and taking the pain.

I've gone through this a few pages back re. diamond cut alloys. Don't bother fixing them.

BVRLA guidelines on scuffs are pretty generous anyway.

Please fill us in on how that goes - it would be interesting to know what's deemed acceptable / how much they do charge if they find some damage. I kind of hope that charges would be reasonable since these companies no doubt have access to cheaper repair prices than we do (if they even bother repairing certain damage...)

You will receive a damage charge matrix a few months before your car goes back. I returned my Golf R with similar wheel damage in October and had the same concerns with them being diamond cut.
However, VWFS only charge £36 per wheel to fix even diamond cut alloys. Far far cheaper than you will find yourself. Could be worth checking in with VWFS for latest damage charges but hopefully it''s still the same for bext year.

So just spoke to VW - on chat and asked for an update on my Tiguan R line I ordered 18th Nov - was 'still with the factory' on the site, and I heard if you speak to them on chat they have more info on the current status.
Well I almost wish I hadn't, not down for build till 1st May with a delivery Mid June -

Think I might be cancelling, I was told 20 weeks but was kind of thinking that would be the maximum date not the min for what is a standard spec white car.....

hhhmm decisions.
I may want to take that over if it was at a competitive rate - PM me if you are serious.

Oh that's really interesting, I didn't know they'd send out a list of potential charges. Great to know it's only £36 per corner too, I'm definitely happy to cough up that much.

Citroen charged about £54 per wheel.
One was curbed (by the wife) and the other had some corrosion.
After a call they removed the charge for corrosion as it was a manufacturers fault however I was happy to pay the £54 for the curbed wheel.
It was diamond cut and was quoted £80, plus the hassle or dropping it off etc to fix it.
Couple of minor scratches were about £60 each..

Found a couple of really good deals, not sure which one to take, I always find myself extremely close to leasing a car then I bottle it due to the 10 - 12 grand I'll spend over 2 years but this time I've had enough, I want one of these. The

https://www.vehiclesavers.com/hot-stock-offers/mer...

This is a deal in an E350d coupe m, 3+23 440 a month 10k

https://www.vehiclesavers.com/car-leasing/bmw/5-se...

520d m sport, 3+23 305 a month 10k

https://www.selectcarleasing.co.uk/car-leasing/mer...

E220d amg line 3+23 370 a month 10k

At 23 years old, a golf or a 1 series would definitely suit me more but after driving my friends courtesy car which happened to be a 330d and seen the average figure of 36 mpg of a weekends worth of thrashing, I've decided I want a 6 cylinder diesel. The only one that appealed to me was the Mercedes e350. My mum has a 2015 120d and had a 2012 120d before which I drove sometimes and after driving the 330d, despite it being well within my budget, performance aside, i don't really want to fork out 10k for a car that is more or less identical(interior) car I am very familiar with now, I want something different. Plus the m sport 3 series don't look all that without m performance pack with the 19 in alloys and they all have an 11week waiting list with no stock offers anywhere. I've been searching for a good week now and all 3.0 German diesels are quite out of my budget, however, I can JUST about manage 440 for the e350 but I can't ignore a new shape e class that's hardly on the roads or better yet a 520d m sport for JUST 305 a month, that's too cheap to ignore......ah for god sake, what do I do.....I want a 3.0 diesel but I can barely afford one. There must be a way!

You discount the 1 series based on interior being 'familiar' yet you're willing to entertain an older e class with an interior that that IMO is naff when compared to a modern Ford, let alone a modern BMW.

Both that E Coupe and the 5 series are no longer in production because they are to be replaced in the immediate future, hence the discounts on them. the 5er isn't even a 6 pot so why that is in for consideration I have no idea.

The new E saloon is not cheap either at the thick end of £10k for 2 years. They have £7k off on DTD and the GMFV from Mercedes is 19125 after 3 years, That gives a cost of £12,400 for 3 years assuming you would be left with no equity, which is very unlikely given its a new shape. More likely you would have £2k minimum in it so would have paid near as damn it the same for an extra year.

FYI, if you're doing 10k or less mpa, then the difference between 36MPG and 26MPG over a year is circa £500.

Tech is quite nice. I found it strange that not all new vehicles dont have keyless start, or auto-wipers these days

Don't forget anyone wanting a new XC60 - we have an offer on for PH users, follow the below link and Quote #XC60 when you send an enquiry in and the Sales Team will look after you from there.

You'll see on the below link, we ordered a number of them for staff cars on personal leases as the offer we have is pretty good (not to blow smoke up our own backsides)

It is, but it's fairly true. As a 25 year old, 440 is just under 80% of my mortgage!

His money though, nobody has any right to tell him how to spend it.
