The 9 months up front is disproportionate on a 24mth deal. Adds a big percentate to the monthly headline figure.
It does but I still find it appealing. It's a £40,000 car after all so the total cost over 24 months of £11,000 is still less than the likely depreciation.
But no one pays list price on a new car - do they?

These heavily subsidised deals do re-inforce the point that the cars are over-priced in the first place.

I'm not against leasing I just think a more realistic comparison to price is more valid.

In peoples experience what percentage of an optional extra do you pay over the term of a lease or how much does it effect the monthly premium?

I'm thinking leather seats, upgraded alloys ect.

You usually pay for all of it, IME.

A neighbour of mine who takes 3 year leases moved to Lexus from Merc E Class some years ago as he said he was fed up re-buying the options every 3yrs.

It's perhaps not such an issue these days as the basic spec is better.

When I was looking it depended on the car, the option and the lease company.

As an example, on a Volvo xc60 using volvo finance metallic paint added £0 to the monthly lease, for sat nav you paid approx half of the cost over the term, but parking sensors added their full cost to the term.

On the nissan qashqai that I decided to lease all options would end up being paid in full.

Looking at Land Rover deals and found this discovery on a 2 year deal with £2500 deposit for £419/mth - sounds almost too good

What's even more remarkable is that a Disco can now do 35mpg and 0-60mph in under 9 seconds. Seriously impressive car.

I've generally found that the manufacturer cost of the option is split over the term, plus a little bit.

So on the Yeti, the heated screen was 36 x £6.75 = £243. The list price of the option is £215.

The Disco deal had been around for 3 or 4 weeks at similar levels to the first post, it's disappeared off the two websites I use now.

Cracking cars for that money

Had one as a hire car and I wouldn't pay that for it. Truly infuriating vehicle.

This is looking seriously tempting, works out to £385 per month once the deposit is spread over the 2 years. 15k a year too!

Mercs 3 year pcp on these when I looked 6 months ago, with a 6k dealer contribution worked out to be almost 500 a month on 10k a year redface

Varies IME -on my Golf lease (through LPG), stuff like leather and nav and metallic paint is cheaper than list over the term whereas bigger wheels and upgraded Nav you pay for almost the entire option.

I asked to be requoted to include a £150 option.

My quote came back £220 more expensive!

Sod buying options to hand back after two years! Ordered the model with the highest standard spec and took no options.
