If it suits your situation, why not. Looks fairly dealworthy.

Care to share the link?

Assuming the excess mileage is sensible (sub 12p per mile) and the deal is otherwise OK for you (i.e., you can afford it, the car meets your needs, etc.) then yes. It beats anything on CH&L. Obviously other deals could follow but we haven't seen anything that good for a while.

As others have said there are simply no deals about at the moment on the Golf R but that does sound good. Are the prices inclusive of VAT?

On the 28th Dec I signed up to £277 a month on 9+23 on 10k miles, fee was about £220 with Select Car Leasing. Black 3dr DSG being delivered next Friday.

No where near the deals of a year ago but I'm happy to pay it taking into consideration other current choices for leasing. The Scirocco R deals are great but I've just sold one so fancy a change.

FastBug - are there any deals of C or E class Estates at the moment? Prefer AMG Line, looking for delivery June/July.

you're better off emailing him directly - inviting him to post may just upset the mods (advertising rules etc)

Anyone know about purchasing the car after a personal lease contract expires? Are they open to offers?

Some people like to get their knickers in a twist about this, saying it can't happen. But my last two leases I asked for a purchase price at the end and was given one, both through VWFS.

As it turned out, the price was higher than you could get it on the open market, but I suppose there's a value attached to knowing the car and knowing that you've had it since new.

How much higher out of interest?

Looking for a high mileage barge lease for a couple of years. Ive been offered a S90 3+23 @ 30k miles P.A for £440. Looks reasonable to start with but this would be my first lease so would value some more experienced opinion on it. Thanks

Makes sense
The std rate goes to £140 so second year will be an extra £30 (for a non DSG 2.0 TDi)
Standard or not, it seems off to ask for it because the lease is being agreed at a point where the future VED rates are known (at least for the next couple of years anyway). If there are new rates announced, that's different (and reasonable to pass on) - but it just seems underhand to set a lease cost knowing what the VED will be, and then say "ah, that'll be an extra few hundred quid over 2/3 years please, VED rates have gone up and we haven't costed that into your contract".

Still, that's how it is.

VWFS actually write to you now with a "Before you hand the keys back.." letter, giving you and your family/friends the chance to buy the car. The letter comes in a "BCA Remarketing" franked envelope. It's a good option for both parties as long as the figures are reasonable. You have to be near the end of the lease to obtain a purchase price, it makes sense to leave it as late as possible anyway as the figure is based on the age and mileage when you request it.

About 10% more than the average 2nd hand private price. So pretty much in line with a dealer price plus a bit.

£12,760... if we take a bargain 6p per mile × 50k miles you get £10,360 on a 10k deal.

At 12ppm (which might be more usual for a car of this class) it comes down to £7,960. That price for an S90 is decent, but I'd compare against an E-Class as they weren't too much more and might even be less with excess mileage.

In theory you shouldn't be able to buy the car at the end of the lease. But the reality is that's for business leases due to the tax breaks on leases, so for a personal deal there shouldn't be a problem.

Having said that, I've never heard of anyone being offered a car really cheap at the end of the deal, lease companies normally get greedy and price themselves out of the market.
