Possibly this isn't rocket science advice i am about to give, but perhaps the reason you're finding it tough to choose is because you don't want any of the choices open to you today. Buy a stop-gap used car and wait it out until the right deal comes along. I've done that 3 times, and yes you'll be driving a significantly lesser car, but because it's only short term (in theory!) it isn't that bad. It also means you can act upon any really good deal that comes up pretty much immediately, and if you buy and sell wisely and it might not even cost you a penny, net.
Interesting idea, out of curiosity what 3 cars did you go for and what price range ?

Did you lose much money or have much hassle when the time came to sell them on ?

Thanks
My go-to ones have been 5 year old diesel mondeos! No more than £7-8k. Possibly not the most exciting thing in the world, but comfy, economical, big boot and don't drive toooo badly. I went for a 2008 Titanium X last time, kept it about 9 months and then flipped it for the same as i paid. It's not such a nightmare that you hate every second, and it has its upsides (see: economy, toys... mine even had chiller seats!) but it's not so amazing that you'll just decide to keep it....

or.... you could hit the £1-5k barge thread? I might do that next time!!

Think we've all been a bit spoiled by the Golf R. Guess that's the downside of getting a really good deal - that you'll need to one day move on and you can't always move on up!
Yup, you're right, I just got a fantastic deal on a 335d and in 2 years time, I'm absolutely sure I'll end up downgrading as there isnt a car better in terms of a diesel!

was looking at these too but with 19s and upgraded nav - must haves in my eyes - they get expensive. cracking motor though. old man has a 640d and it goes like stink so i can imagine it being very impressive in a 3 series!

I'm umming and arrrhing between s3 and golf r and whether paying £300 a month for either would be worth biting the bullet. I'm edging towards the R for the simple reason you get more for the price..... Any thoughts .????
Had a similar dilemma but i decided on the S3 mainly due to the interior, IMO its a much nicer place with the heated leather seats as standard, well, that and had I an a4 s-line special edition prior to that. I've also had a few different MK Golfs in the past also so was a tough call. There is more on the Golf as standard but will you use it, ie cruise control for example? Unless you park like a girl do you need parking sensors? rotate Some others have mentioned that the radar braking thing on the Golf might help with insurance if you would be taking that into consideration. I don't think you will be disappointed with either to be honest as long as you are happy with the costs involved. Happy motoring!! biggrin

Variety is the spice of life! Almost 25 years of driving, and my first private lease car turns up on Monday. I have had everything from a £400 Alfa to nearly new Golf GTis, and brand new company lease cars. As long as I'm not bored with my car I'm happy. Like many of us PHers I've had a drive full of eclectic cars (most 4 at once).

There is something very satisfying to driving a car you paid buttons for - I spent a year in a £550 E34 BMW which I loved and never let me down.

Give bangernomics a try, there are some fantastic cheap cars out there and the trick is to buy a good one, and then sell it on before you have to spend any serious money on it or just scrap it if you paid pennies for it - you can come back to bargain leasing anytime - my only worry is that I'm stuck with this lease Passat Alltrack for 2 years, it may be dirt cheap and meet my family needs, if I don't like it I can't just shunt it on!

I managed to haggle a deal for a Skoda Fabia 1.2 90 SE for £130.84 a month, with 6 up front. 36mths, 10,000mpa, metallic paint etc.

Worked out good for me as it's about 8% of my monthly income, and has a lot of gadgets in comparison to other stuff I'd have gotten. PCP was coming in at about £165 with £1000 deposit.

Not in the same league as the stuff you lot are leasing, but seems a good price for those after a decently kitted family car.

What do people think of this deal? Was going to go for a GLA class however have taken a liking to the CLA class.

CLA Coupe 180 AMG sport 4door

6+23
8k miles
£1600 initial incl VAT
£270 per month incl VAT
No admin fee

http://www.mblease.uk/personal-lease-cars/mercedes...
That's near £8k for a 120bhp small family car. Lots of cheaper cars available, or better cars for the same money.
For a bit more

https://www.contracthireandleasing.com/car-leasing...

BMW 4 Series Diesel Coupe
420d [190] SE 2dr [Business Media]
6+23
8k
£246+vat

Or a lot less

https://www.contracthireandleasing.com/car-leasing...

Volkswagen Golf Diesel Hatchback
1.6 TDI 110 Match Edition 5dr
6+23
8k
£150+vat
We found a big quality step between the CLA/GLA and the C/E Class. The xLA type cars look the part, but felt a bit more Skoda than Merc inside if that makes sense (we visited both dealers on the same day). For that money something like this may be a better choice, unless the styling really floats your boat -

C200d SE Executive 4dr
6+23 - 10k £266.81 inc VAT - No fees
https://www.contracthireandleasing.com/car-leasing...

Audi A4 Ultra Sport 4dr
6+23 - 10k - £238.80 inc VAT - No fees - In stock

Agree - I don't think either would disappoint you! Worth going to have a look at both. I took the Golf firstly on price but also prefer the looks (S3 saloon excluded) and I don't like the pop up screen in the S3. Golf is also slightly sharper to drive too but unless your are really tanking it you wouldn't notice day to day.
Your best going to have a look and drive of both if you are on the fence.

I hope I will have luck with good deal on nice car when S8 goes back. If not, I will just move on and buy something. I'm planning to ask for extenstion as well, just in case VWFS decides to agree and gives me good price.

My new one turns up on Monday too; it's a Merc E220d Coupe auto AMG Line Edition with panoramic roof in "metallic brilliant blue" which looks absolutely stunning. It comes with a lot of standard kit and also COMAND, 19", carplay etc etc

It's not one of the bonkers 250 a month deals that you lot seem to get, but a 3+35 15K at 412/month inc vat (+ 198 arrangement fee) is pretty good I think. The 2 year lease was only slightly dearer but to be honest I would actually like to keep this car for 3 years.

I can do an E220 Coupe AMG Night Edition for £358.21 inc vat on a 3+23 and 10k pa. Premium Pack is about another £15 on top. The deal needs to be activated this month though. Couple of different colour choices. Premium Pack and 19's are £388.07 inc VAT.

Going back to the CLA, there's not much support on them and they're always hard to get as they don't make that many of them. We try and order for pipeline stock, but some of the led times are silly. I had an Orange Art Shooting Brake on order for a customer for 7 months!

Regarding the S8's I very much doubt Audi will allow anyone to extend the deal at the same rate (if anyone like me is on the £320+ vat rate). You may be able to possibly extend for 3 months but as soon as you ask for an extension be prepared for a shock.

On another note anyone manager to grab the GLE Coupe Amg' s being offered for £399 by freedom last week?

Currently looking at a replacement for my wife's F30 330d.
Telephone quote from Vines BMW yesterday for contract hire - I had originally enquired for a 435d GC on Coast2Coast.

3+35, 10k miles

335d X Drive M sport with MS+ pack £437pm
535d M sport £403 (which I think is a bargain but too big a car for her)
640d GC MS+ pack £457

The 435d GC with heated seats, folding mirrors, HK & 19" wheel upgrade for reference was coming in at £510 on the same profile
The 335d is much better value imo.

I'm not fussy about the engine as long as it is a 6cly. He mentioned that the residual on the 35d is so good that the 40i won't be close to it.

Personally I'd like 12k pa, 3+23 in a Golf R DSG for £325ish if anyone knows of any deals ?
Select website looked most competitive but they haven't replied to an enquiry so far. Anyone of experience going directly to a dealer ?

Concept Leasing in Surbiton. I've been very impressed with their service compared with who I've had in the past.
