Three posts in and you are saying that! Blimey you won't last long here
I read a lot of posts on here and generally you get good solid helpful responses to genuine questions but this answer was so far off the mark as to be senseless hence my reply. I mean if I'm considering a Golf R why the heck would a Skoda Yeti be suitable it's a million miles away in comparison.

A Skoda Yeti body on a Golf R platform would be fun (and practical) though I mean if I'm considering a Golf R why the heck would a Skoda Yeti be suitable it's a million miles away in comparison.

I'm interested in this too as the Wife's X trail is due back in Jan after 2 years and will be due it's 2nd service around then too. As far as I know, if the service is due within about a month of return date it's on you - but keen to get clarity.
I have returned a Mercedes with the service indicator showing it was due a service in 10 days.....in fact I actually requested an early collection date to cover this - it helped that we already had the next vehicle anyway.Andy-6ufnp said:

Or, you could just tell your mrs to stop whingeing and get on with it, as you want a man's car and you are in charge.

And no comeback? Was it another MB you ordered? (which may have helped keep them sweet?)When the hand-back day comes, I am tempted to request collection a few days before day 730 (365 x 2) as if you are pedantic about it......the service is not actually due!
Although knowing my luck, I will be penalised for being a smart@rse...

I did the same thing with an MB lease. Sent it back 3 days before 3 years was up. Tyres just within legal limit as per return policy and service showing as due in 5 days. Didn't have anything come of it.

Don't know if there's officially any leeway with MB (I asked VW and they said "no") but I'd be minded to put it in for each service 2-3 weeks late. That way you should have a month spare at the end. What happens about MOT on 3yr leases? On our company cars it's a condition that they have to be MOT'd before they go back. My last one failed!
I've got a Lexus on a two deal, Lexus allow you up to 1 month or 500 miles leeway, I'll service it right towards the end of the month, hopefully when I hand it back after two years the service is not actually due for another month and two if you go by the max time permitted. Worst case they'll send me a bill for the service, it's fixed price anyway so might as well take the chance. Anyone else doing the same?

From my MB experience. Have the 1st service done 1-2 weeks late. Then the 2nd service will not be due within the 2 year lease period. Even if the service indicator light is on, as long as the actual date of the due service is outside the lease period you are not liable for it.
With BMW this is not an issue for me as the variable service was due for me @ 15mnths 19k.

I went to service 3 weeks overdue (not on purpose) and they setup next service exactly 1 year from due date, so delaying service may not work. It was MB Brooklands. Plenty of deals for S-class 350, mentioned here earlier and you can easily find them on https://www.contracthireandleasing.com/ There could be some cars for collection before end of June.

you want to buy a hot hatch on a lease, but then pay the full amount of a very expensive option thus making it not even that great a deal, in order to soften the suspension because it's too sporting? Skoda yeti is that way...
We specced 5dr, dsg and adaptive suspension on our golf R lease. The Mrs likes it in comfort, I like it in race. Still a great deal at the time.I've been given a car allowance from my new job (£350 p/m) which isn't a huge amount, but I know I can get something. Currently I'm a company car driver so it's a bit daunting thinking about leasing a car for the first time.
Generally, I've been looking at the Kia Ceed/Sportages, Focus', Astras etc. but I have no idea what constitutes a good deal or not, but pretty much it's a 24 month, 15k and as little as possible upfront.
Would anyone be able to push me in the right way or give me some indication of what a decent deal is/company worth going through etc?

My personal definition of a good deals is when a 2yr 10k/yr lease is <25% of RRP. The closer to 20% the better.Generally, I've been looking at the Kia Ceed/Sportages, Focus', Astras etc. but I have no idea what constitutes a good deal or not, but pretty much it's a 24 month, 15k and as little as possible upfront.

15k/yr tends to be 10-15% uplift vs 10k/yr.
A good starting point is: http://www.contracthireandleasing.com/
£350 is £8400 over 2 years, so on a 6+23, makes that £290 inc vat per month.
eg.
premium cars

cheap cars

Quite a range as you can see.

I would recommend to read back maybe 50 pages of this thread to get a feel for the deals on offer and the leasing web sites to follow, ignore the jeep pages as that was a false deal, then over a couple of weeks monitor these sites and you'll get a feel for a good one. Having a spreadsheet to track the 2 year cost as a percentage of the recommended price is a good idea and then when something comes along go for it and don't delay.Generally, I've been looking at the Kia Ceed/Sportages, Focus', Astras etc. but I have no idea what constitutes a good deal or not, but pretty much it's a 24 month, 15k and as little as possible upfront.

I'm considering one of the golf match deals and if nothing else comes along by the weekend I'll probably go for it.
