Replacing a workhorse 330i Coupe

Hi there,
I have the unenviable task of replacing our E92 330i, the problem (I'm sure many of you will be sympathetic) is it has to be replaced by a car that actually doesn't exist....
SWMBO has allergies to 4 door cars (old man's cars apparently) but doesn't want to go for a 4 series.
It gets worse, annually, we pack the car up with 2 bikes, luggage and drive to Southern Europe on a two week holiday to a wine region. Normally dragging back 3 cases of wine.
We test drove a 640d Coupe, 2 doors, Check, adequate "oomph", check, load lugging ability, fail. We had a couple of surprises here. The rear seats won't go down. We were than told it wasn't even an option!
So we had a look at an Audi A7 (to be fair, it was an RS7 but it was lush!) messed about with the seats, oohed and ahhed at the interior, they didn't have one available for a test drive (ideally looking at the 300bhp diesel) so we went away and had a look at the 6 Grand Coupe, seats go down (yay!), looks smart. SWMBO actually liked it! So just trying to organise a test drive.
So, can anyone think of any other options? budget is 34 - 37k
