Kia Sportage 2022 discussion, delivery times, questions etc.
Discussion
I ordered the Kia Sportage s line, fusion white with black roof on 11th February with expected delivery 31st March ‘ 22. After several conversations with the dealership, they still don’t have a chassis number! indicates it’s not been built yet. Until they receive this there is no date for delivery. Beyond frustrating as I’ve just had to pay for road tax/insurance/service /MOT. My Green Flag insurance had also run out. Don’t want to take out a new contract as all of this is covered with the Kia package. I’m wondering if I’ll ever get the car. 🙁
I’m just about to order a PHEV, but can’t decide between 4 spec and GT-Line S. As far as I can tell, they are the same apart from 4 has:
Exterior “chrome”
“Machined bronze” as standard (light poo brown?
4 had a round steering wheel
Whereas GT-Line S has:
Black exterior trim
Electric and ventilated seats of slightly different design/material (bum coolers would be nice on sticky days #batwings)
Electric tailgate (never needed, never wanted!)
Flat-bottomed steering wheel (weirdly, I don’t dislike these!)
Infra-red as standard
It’s a company car with some personal contribution: after that, BIK etc there’s about £20 difference per month. Play it safe with a red car, or risk it being deemed the poo-mobile (and angrily demand it be called “bronze”) and pocket the saving? Whatever I go for, seems I’m in for a wait!

My order was confirmed today, and the delivery estimate is the end of February 2023.
Kia confirmed that this was a “factory build”: from that I assume that it’s built to order, and that for some cars (perhaps the better-selling ones?) they’re available from stock? I recall Hyundai doing similar back in 2007-2008 just before the scrappage scheme kicked in: build all the cars you can and have hundreds of the things ready for delivery.
