When I spoke to Kerridges about the options it seemed fairly laissez faire at the moment becasue I don't think the car will go into build until three months (?) before the delivery date. So at the moment they don't need a firm decision for a little while yet, although I will be getting the 'box and sump. I imagine you can even change your mind about the colour up to a certain point, becasue the waiting list is still quite long.
As for exactly how long you have to change/make up your mind, I don't know.
Sorry!

Sam

Thanks Sam,

Went to local dealer today - I would have up to so many weeks after the deposit is paid before the point of no return (colour and specwise) but it seems to differ between which slot you have and when!

Thanks

How much deposit do you need to secure one of these beasts?

I want the GTO 3R in the titanium silver with black wheels as featured on their site...

Some require £1500 + VAT (non-refunable if you pull-out as it goes to the factory and not the dealer) then another £4000 a few weeks later at the point of no return (spec and colour choice) and then the balance once they have the car in their showroom (so you get to see it before you pay the rest - unlike Merc in Germany who demanded my entire sack of Euros two weeks before I could collect the car - must have been for the damage to those dams in the vicinity of the factory - ouch!!!).

....Just like mine then

I paid 1500 plus VAT when the car was first ordered at HR Owen but nothing more is due until the car goes to build. I guess it just varies from dealer to dealer.

Give Charles a ring at Mole Valley - you may be 'suprised' at the result.....

Joust, what are you suggesting - that Charles won't ask for the staged £4,000 or what? Difficult anyway as I'm already dealing with Mike!

I paid £1500+VAT, and spec'd the car there and then. 6 months later the car was ready, and I paid the balance. No £4000 second stage was requested.

They always seem ready to do a deal, and they may have access to the car in the spec that you want....

Still - if you'r happy already no probs.

My 2 pence,

I was asked for the £1500 up front, and have been told that there is a second installment of £3000 when the car goes into built (3 months before completion) -this was at Kerridges, Needham Market.

Who knows!

How much is a GTO 3R?

Is this the more hardcore version or the more luxurious version?

I prefer the headlights to the standard one and those wheels!!

I'll take a stab - apparently...

The GTO-3R is not really more "hardcore" (although the power may be slightly up) but what it does allow for is considerable future-proofing by way of relatively easy power increase upgrades later - this is because you can order a 6-speed gearbox option (this gearbox would be a neccesity for any power upgrades). You can also order a baffled sump (for more serious trackday use) so these would make it more "hardcore", I suppose!

I agree, the headlights are correct and the way it should always have been!

Pricing, OK, here goes:
Base price of £51,500 - including leather, Sony radio/CD, new light clusters, slightly more poweful engine (maybe, but no one seems to know?!), map pockets, start button, LSD (for the first time), new wheels (dark centres) - this represents a reasonable increase of only approx. £1,000 over a GTO-3!

Lastly, car weighs in at 20kgs over a GTO-3 due to the diff, I guess.

Go get one!

The 6sp box is also available as an option on the non-R version. On the subject of the 6sp box, Charles at Mole Valley told me that it is definitely not a Quaife box, but is a Ford box again. Is the LSD included with the 3R?

I hadn't noticed the headlights on the 3R, I've got to say, they look miles better than standard, I'm now thinking I should have put my deposit on one of these.

Yep, LSD is standard on the 3R but I don't know the origins of the gearbox - it had better be up to the job though :-)

Email from Lee Noble to the owners confirmed both LSD and gearbox was from Quaife. However - Quaife only really do "internals" - so it will still be mostly Ford on the casing and input/output shafts I would imagine......

But then what do I know

Hi guys just to give my twopence worth . I ordered at the show and was told August. I paid 1500 with order and another 4,600 when my spec was finalised. I was quoted £1600 +vat for the 6 speed box. I gave my interior and colour spec in February . My build number is 39 however they are starting the numbers at 14(at least that what john at the factory told me. THey are not necceserily going to build in order but according to specs ( i presume the factory wanjts to build to a economical KenBan size)(as far as they can.) I was told because I am having silver the chances are it would come in quicker than any special paint jobs.

I was told last week that they are starting build on my car this week. We shall see. I feel like a kid waiting for Xmas.

I wonder if Charles would take my car in part ex? I bought mine through Mole Valley too.

Only problem would be luggage space as I don't have another car!

Johnh, My build no is R10 and it should be in at noble tues or wed this week, so maybe things are picking up once they had sorted out any production quirks on new R.Also i have a non standard colour, so Titanium etc might come though a little quicker.
