Hmm - the new Alpine's suggest they have TMC - but to be sure the only system that has is is any "Philips" system (VDO / BMW / etc.).

TMC rocks - but you have to take what it says with the perverbial "pinch of salt" - but it coupled with "2222" is a serious solution.......

P.S. If you have a VDO system without TMC - give me a email - I'll be able to "elighten" you....

It does support TMS (the congestion avoidance stuff) as standard (not a £300 upgrade) but we don't have the sevice in this country yet.

Anyone know when it's due to start? I thought they were already broadcasting the TMC data via RDS, but it seems not. Is that what's planned?

Yep - it's being bropadcast - but you have to have a CD/DVD with the right codes on it, and that's down to the manufacturer to cough up the licensing fee to the company that runs it.

I've had TMC on my X5 for over a year now - works very well most of the time.

Interesting. I know I can buy a CD with TMC codes (VW/blaupunkt travel pilot DX/teleatlas), but they're saying there's no TMC service available!
