New engine, and better than ever!! Wow.....

Late last year, I had some pretty severe issues which resulted in a new engine, and many thanks to Noble London, Giles, and Lee. Details on this thread:

Anyway, the good news is that the new engine has been run in, and is running well with the new Roush exhaust and fuel pump upgrade.
BUT - the really good news is that I was concerned to make sure that the engine was properly mapped, and fuelling was OK, so I talked to Trevor at Roush and he agreed to check everything over and map the car to ensure that all was running properly (and more importantly for me - safely). The main aim was to ensure that there would not be a repeat of the piston melting phenomenon previously experienced.
The engine is basically standard apart from the exhaust and fuel pump/wiring loom upgrade, but does have the FP Intercooler and a BOV of somewhat uncertain origin (I/C and BOV already fitted when I bought the car).
Bottom line is that after several hours, and much time spent on the dyno and attention to detail (alot of which I freely admit I don't really understand), Trevor was finally happy that the engine was running very safely, fuelling properly, and was basically set up correctly.
Oh, yes - apart from running safely, there was the bonus of the performance
Max Power - 442 BHP at 6200 rpm (390 atw)
Max Torque - 416 lbft at 4800 rpm
All I can say is that it pulls like a train!
I know there have been many threads extolling the virtues of the Roush exhaust, but I'm afraid I have to add my voice to the others. The exhaust/fuel pump package, but above all the mapping by Trevor to ensure a smooth and safe power delivery totally has transformed the car. I cannot recommend it highly enough. (Goodness knows what it's like driving some of the cars that they've done more extensive work on!)

Glad your happy mate. Having a proper session on a RR to sort out fueling is the only way i would feel totally safe as well, personally i would not be happy with the Roush ecu flash alone as i do not feel that is car specific enough. Nice figures as well, and all that from exhaust, remap and pump? What boost is it running at now?

He wrote the maps for all Nobles, but he doesn't personally RR and map every car.
Each car will have slightly different perameters and so a personal map tweak of the original will give the best and safest fueling/spark/power delivery etc for your car.

I don't think he will be going with his laptop. It takes 30-60 mins to RR each car, but can take 2-3 hours to map one, so its not fair to do it on a RR day.

Which chap? As far as I know, no one else has the "correct" lead other than roush. I know there are one or 2 people with "a" lead, but these have been known to fry ecu's.

I have to agree, Trevor is brilliant in finding extra horses with his laptop. But most of all, he makes the car run very smooth....!

Greg...I think you've got your wires crossed somewhere (pun intended). I may be wrong but it is my belief that the lead is common enough, and anyone with one can look at the map...but you need a password to work on the map and only Trevor has it.

AFAIK Trevor only Mapped the M400, but obviously can re-callibrate any of the others. The Revision D ECU's are locked by a pin number and without this anyone will have great difficulty getting in (most people could make or buy an RS232 lead) Trevor has a lot of experience with Nobles and the MBE ecu's.
The M400 has some issues that have to be checked/resolved before they can be improved, the biggest one is the factory running a high boost map which the valve springs cannot hold causing blow by, which wrecks the valve seats and looses power.

You can access the ECU. However you can't *change* anything without knowing the appropiate passwords. F.C.
US owners are given a copy of the "dealer" software that shows all the figures and parameters, just won't allow you to change it.

Well done Conrad, really happy to hear your car is top notch again . Trevor is a top chap and so knowledgeable.
In fact, a couple of weeks ago, I got Trevor to do the exact same thing with my car and remap it to ensure boost and fuelling were safe. He managed to extract some extra horses and torque even from my puny standard car. I now run 404 bhp and 390 lb ft. It feels so much better than previously and revs better towards the limiter, holding boost nicely.
The Roush exhaust and uprated intercooler are very tempting at the moment.
