Help

Just got into the Noble after a visit to Sainsbury, 3rd gear and put my foot down, the car hesitates, gets to about 4k, dies, at 5k picks up again. I do not think it is fuel.

Any advice would be useful, I have no time to take her to the factory and it is Le Mans in a couple of weeks.

Ash -when were your plugs last changed? Might be worth having a look see if they're oiled/knackered.

Check all your breater and vacuum tubes. Sounds exactly like the vacuum tube that goes into the inlet manifold just under the throttle body has fallen off. I cable tied mine on as it kept on falling off and doing exactly what you describe.

It seems a fairly common thing, It happened to mine, and it also happened blatting out of Arnarge in the Mitso two years ago.

They really should cable tie up all the breather pipes, but you know how it is, 20 mins more of labour with 1.2p worth of ties probably adds up to £500 on the asking price???

They are fine until they get some oil in them (and we all know the Noble loves to stick oil through the inlet system) and then they won't stay on.

Just remember if you do cable tie them to only pull against them one or two clicks tight, if you pull them any harder you could be in danger of crushing the underlying pipe.

I'm getting the same problem too. I know where all the vac feeds are as I installed the BOV ages ago. However, which one am I looking for?

Sorry - I don't have a piccy of that.

Find the throttle body. Look underneath it and to the right. You'll find a black tube with a rubber 'elbow' connector going into the plastic inlet manifold.

I had this problem but the vacuum pipe hadn't come off it had been pushed on too far. This made it particularly difficult to spot because on first inspection everything looks fine, I've now put a spacer on the pipe to stop it happening again.

If you push it all the way in it screws things up as well. I've cable tied it into the right position.

Thanks Justin,

I found that easily enough. It was "hanging" by a thread so to speak. I have pushed it on a little further. I will need to lightly cable tie it I guess. I can't believe this kind of "shoddy" workmanship is actually present and has never been picked up during any service.

The hesitation has gone away - so far so good.

It's Ford OEM, so not really shoddy workmanship, just badly designed by Ford.....

J,

That's a bit harsh on Ford considering they never designed this manifold/engine for pressure charging!! If they had, then there would have been a better solution, believe me. No, this one's down to Noble, by and large.
