Testing on a non-Tesla DC charger doesn't really prove much anyway.
Software could be set to limit charging on non Tesla chargers amongst other explanations.
The Model 3 EPA document says the battery can accept DC current up to 525A from an off?board charger (Supercharger).
That'll allow at least 175 kW charging for the Model 3 with the current batteries.
The Model Y could (probably will by production time) have better chemistry still and 400v (or higher) batteries so I reckon the reveal on the 14th may mention at least 200 kW charging for the Y.
Either way....technology is evolving quickly.... Surely only those with hidden agendas would decry it..?Software could be set to limit charging on non Tesla chargers amongst other explanations.

It's almost like the Model Y is the SUV version of the Model 3......WHOA.....MAAA'AAAN...... Mind. Blown. What an idea....... To. Build. An. SUV. Version. Of. A. Saloon. Car. ..... fk, Musk is clever. Why don't other manufacturers do that????

To me, it just looks like a slightly smaller Model X.
I hope they'd have a bit more imagination than that. They really don't need a launch event if it's just a pensioner special version of the Model 3.Hopefully it'll have a load of new tech and features to stand it apart.

No, I think a Model Y will look like an inflated Model 3. The Model 3 isn't bad looking, an inflated Model 3 has potential to echo the looks of the cars favoured by pensioners as mentioned above.
I do know owners of both Model S and X although I haven't driven the X. Neither are pensioners to answer your question.
I know plenty of both. I'd average an estimate that Model X owners are c20yrs younger than Model S drivers.I do know owners of both Model S and X although I haven't driven the X. Neither are pensioners to answer your question.

I also very very very seldom see an obvious pensioner in an SUV. I can't help but thinking your OAP/SUV assumption is very wide of the mark. Having seen 100s of Model 3s, driven one, and been passengered in approaching a dozen others, it is the most 'pensioner' car in the range IMO.

Still from a guy in the second row of seating looking back to the 3rd row, headroom was tight for him even in the second row, and he comments there’s no way an adult can realistically sit 8n the 3rd row. Not a great vote for the space
Tesla will be therefore screwed unless they release a bigger version of the Model Y........Oh, hang on....

Like this, I get why people are saying its a little dull, but to me its certainly better than most of the other vehicles its size these days which are mostly over-styled/overwrought. This looks clean. The M3 can look a little odd/ungainly from some angles due to those steep sides and tall looking glass house, but this wears it well.
My only criticism is those wheels on the Ben Sullins video... I couldn't quite place why, but they do kinda look a little lost in the arches. Does it have air suspension? I don't think the wheels need to be bigger, but maybe it could have done with a bit more tyre side-wall. I think the non-dark wheels look better.
Hot Cakes.
The bulk of people that are criticising it's looks are either anti-SUV types, or and-EV types. This has double-hatred from people that care so little about EVs/SUVs that they can't help but swarm over every post.... Elsewhere, the Y will almost certainly be Tesla's biggest seller....but those with chips on their shoulders will never like it.My only criticism is those wheels on the Ben Sullins video... Indeed
powered boot lids are unnecessary anyway, heated steeringwheel? Am I driving Miss Daisy? Comfier suspension? Do I have piles that need to be caressed by computer?
The 3 is by far the better value, oh and it can be parked in a normal car park. But the S, with the price hike, you would hope is far superior (but every S I've been in has rattled like Audrey Hollanders arse post shoot)
Don't knock a heated steering wheel until you've lived with one for a few years.....!powered boot lids are unnecessary anyway, heated steeringwheel? Am I driving Miss Daisy? Comfier suspension? Do I have piles that need to be caressed by computer?
